Guest guest
Vicki, most insurance companies consider Tummy Tucks (pannelectomies included) a cosmetic surgery. Since this is generally for vanity sake and vanity sake alone (according to most insurance companies) most if not all insurance require you to prove medical necessity. Insurance companies tend to believe that cosmetic surgery is not necessary and, therefore, they should not have to pay for it. Consider journaling your rashes and treatments. I now it sounds really strange but when it is in writing it is provable. Of course, this is merely my opinion and observation from others who have had to get it covered from insurance. In Florida, I always used Vagisil to absorb the moisture from sweat. Trust me, I was always soaked reguardless what I used. I'm in Forestry and being out in the summer heat is and will be unavoidable for me. (I loved being out there except for my boobs and stomac sticking and rubbing.) They don't sell that or anything compareable here so I mix cornstarch and body powder together. So I know how to get rid of a rash when there. What does one do to help avoid the sweat? Cotton undergarmets and cotton clothing still get saturated in warm months. Dawn
Guest guest
I tried the powders, too. It was the dermatologist who told me not to feed them powders. I couldn't stop the sweat, but I could stop the rashes by keeping the area yeast free. Finally stopped it permanently with the TT, of course. Guest guest
>>Consider journaling your rashes and treatments. I now it sounds really strange but when it is in writing it is provable. What my friend did, and it worked, was to go to her GP (PCP) EVERY time she would get a rash, and he would take a polaroid of it with a date/time stamp. They did this religiously for something like 6 months, and he would give her a prescription creme for the rash under her panni AFTER he took the picture. Eventually he was able to submit photographic evidence that this patient truly needed her tummy tuck. The insurance company, already tired of paying through the nose for very expensive rash creme, eventually approved the tuck ~~ Lyn G
Guest guest
TT, I took thin maxipads and stuck them to the bottom band of my bra. I would also put them under my panni (after putting toilet paper on the sticky part It's not exactly comfortable, but it's better than having the sweat run down your thighs. For some reason, I sweat more under my panni than anywhere else. ------------------------------------------------ Terry Mayers 5DollarHosting.comR http://www.5dollarhosting.com (877)-838-HOST / .... because it shouldn't cost a fortune to make a fortune! Guest guest
May I please mention the fact that I said MOST. I realize that there are some insurance companies that you do not have to fight. But MOST or atleast some do require you to prove medical necessity. The key point here is that not all policies or insurance companies are created equal and the only way to find out if your policy covers the surgery or not is to submit a request. It never hurts to be prepared to prove medical necessity and the early you can document things the better prepared you will be when it is time to get the surgery covered. I am usually cautious about doing blanket statements about insurance companies or anything else. It was very intentional when I said most instead of all. Just food for thought here.
