Guest guest
Hi all. Here is my question of the night. I seem to be plagued the past few days with 2 types of chest pains. There is the one kind, which is in the center of my chest, and doesn't radiate. It often hurts worse upon breathing in deeply. I have been told that this may be a symptom of fluid buildup. Of course, it may also just be my body's haywire circuitry :-) The other type has gotten far worse in the past day or so. Sharp pain - to the left of center. Not too much radiating. First really bad slammer sent me right to the bathroom last night to vomit. I then laid on the floor - searching for a position which would yeild me some comfort. Apparently I found it because I awakened from the floor an hour later. (In fact, I slept a lot in the past day - 14 nearly consecutive hours! But did not find myself particularly rested.) Today, I have had more such pains. Worst was early this evening. Slammer again - but again - a brief duration. This evening, it hit hard - and wouldn't go away. Hit, then seemed to release - and did that 3 times. Still, it was relatively brief - no more than 5 minutes. Each time, it felt like 25 or so electric fingers radiating outward from just left of center in my chest. The electric pain felt similar to when they do the EMG studies - you know - jolting my body with electricity to test conductivity of the myelin sheath. I had a full heart work up 7 months ago. At that time, the cardiologist told me that there were problems, but that he just thought my heart was responding to stress elswhere in my body. Same old " it's not MY system that is messed up - go see another specialist " story. Anyway, even if you guys have no answers - if you have experienced similar symptoms, please let me know. Of course, any advice is also welcome. Due to my family's history of premature deaths due to heart problems, my GP was forever sending me to the ER. I finally quit going (quit calling him - as I figued it was just part of having Fibromyalgia) - I mean - nothing ever showed up. Well, some mild abnormalities. Something on the holter monitor showed up... but mainly just some Bradycardia - and they already know that now - very well documented. Some abnormalities in the EEG also showed up one time - but, as with everything - never duplicated (well not everything - some things have been duplicated). Most things - are sporadic in occurrence - just like a car you take to the mechanic - messes up when you drive it - then does fine for the mechanic - then messes up when you drive it home. Oh well, rambling (as usual). Like I said, any and all responses appreciated. Thanks,

PROBLEM IS, WE'RE A WAYS FROM ERS - ESPECIALLY ONE WORTH ANYTHING. COUNTRY LIVING DOES COME WITH COSTS. PLUS, HISTORY LEADS ME TO BELIEVE IT IS NOTHING - OF COURSE - THAT LEADS ME BACK TO THE QUESTION FOR MY INTERNIST - " WHEN A BODY CRIES WOLF SO OFTEN - HOW DO YOU KNOW IF IT'S 'REAL' OR NOT? " THANKS FOR THE LINE. IF THEY KEEP HAPPENING, I MIGHT DO IT - BUT SEEMS LIKE A WASTE. AGAIN, CONSIDERING MY HISTORY. HAVE YOU HAD CHEST PAINS WITH THIS? JUST CURIOUS. Guest guest
, I would insist on the doctor checking out the chest pain. While acid reflux can cause chest pain and is often associated with MSA, the sudden " bad slammer " pain sounds bad to me. If you have this type of pain, it is imperitive that you get blood work within 6 hours for diagnoses. Last friday we went to the doctor again (regular checkup) and he gave some against reflux. We hope that that is what she needs. If so, we will let you know. Guest guest
Greetings ! You mention: > IF THEY KEEP HAPPENING, I MIGHT DO IT - BUT SEEMS > LIKE A WASTE. AGAIN, CONSIDERING MY HISTORY. > > HAVE YOU HAD CHEST PAINS WITH THIS? JUST CURIOUS. Well, due to muscle spasms, it appears several of us have contractions of muscles in the chest area. This once sent me to the ER. But it was nothing so severe that it led to vomiting. Add to that fact you slept for 14 hours the next day. This is a sign you had a major event that drained your strength. You need to consider you may have had a mild heart attack. If you have another, you really should go to the ER. They can check for specific body chemicals to determine if there has in fact been damage to the heart. And, yes. This disease does lead to the " Wolf! Wolf! " cry from our bodies. It is a pain in the keester. I've learned to ignore the little stuff. But if something that major occurs, I try to let a doctor sort it out. I hope you do the same. We would rather have you stick around to ask your good questions. Regards, =jbf= B. Fisher
Guest guest
: I have not had chest pains. I've had severe leg pains, however. Guest guest
HI JOHN. THANKS FOR THE INPUT. GUESS I SHOULD HAVE GONE IN THAT NIGHT - BUT I WAS JUST TOO TUCKERED OUT. NEXT DAY, YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, I WAS NOT AS TUCKERED AFTER THE SLAMMERS - SO GUESS I DIDN'T PERCEIVE THEM AS BEING THAT BAD. THE VOMITING THE FIRST NIGHT - PROBABLY DIDN'T STARTLE ME TOO MUCH BECAUSE I SEEM TO VOMIT DAILY WITH THIS STUFF ANYWAY. ALTHOUGH I MUST ADMIT THAT IT WAS A MUCH MORE IMMEDIATE - SLAM - CHEST PAIN - VOMIT THING. I'LL SHARE THIS WITH MY INTERNIST AND SEE WHAT SHE RECOMMENDS. YOUR ADVICE CERTAINLY MAKES SENSE. OF COURSE, THEN WE COME FULL CIRCLE TO THE 'CRY WOLF' THING AGAIN. SURE IS A PAIN - ISN'T IT! PUN FULLY INTENDED :-) PAUL > Greetings ! > > You mention: > > > IF THEY KEEP HAPPENING, I MIGHT DO IT - BUT SEEMS > > LIKE A WASTE.
