Hi Dawn,

Please call your doctor you may be having an allergic reaction. I had the

itching real bad after the 9th week. All of a sudden I had a horrible itching

after I took my dose, then later my breathing was more difficult. I took

benadryl and called the doctor. He told me to stop it immediately.

Just thought I would share this with you. In case this is what is happening

to you.

Hi everyone thansk for the answers to my metho

questions. i have been taking it for 2 weeks now. I

guess i am not doing two bad. The two things that i

have noticed is that i am so tired the day that i can

hardly move. Also and this is a question, I itch,

like crazy, keep my self a wake scraching, i do not

have a rash, just the itching. does anyone else do

this????????????????????????? haven't heard that any

one does. just curious. dawn

Dawn,

I get tired from the Metho too. I get the itching too but was told that was

from the Pred.

It's been so long I can't remember which Doc told me that. LOL

Dawn, when I was on metho the same thing happened to me.. It only lasted a

few weeks though and then went away. Almost forgot about it til you

mentioned it.

Glad to hear that you are doing so well on it.. that is great news.

I checked the long list of possible side effects that came with the

bottle of methotrexate that I have and it doesn't mention itching as

a possible side effect. That's not to say it might not be doing that

to you. Everybody's system reacts differently. Are you taking Folic

Acid? Reason I ask is because on the information sheet that I got

for that under possible side effects it says " if you experience rash

or itching, contact your doctor " . That's the only thing it mentions

as a side effect of Folic acid.

Dawn, have your doctors check your blood sugar levels. Metho can

raise them. One of the first symptoms is itching sking.

Dawn,

I had an episode of intense itching about a week ago that drove me

nuts. i of course attibuted it to the predisone i was takeing.low and

behold it went away after a day or so. and has not returned since.

(thank god) I don't know about the medicine your currently taking and

i was only recently diagnosed with RP so it's all new to me. but i

just wanted to let you know i can relate with that itching issue big

Dawn,

Did you ever call the doctor and tell him what is happening with the itching.

I know my cause was an allergic reaction to the drug. If that is what's going

on you don't need to continue taking it. So, please call your doctor and ask

him.

Dawn and - I have to just add my two penn'orth

here, I have noticed that metho always lowers my sugar

levels, until I realised I kept getting hypoglycemic

on Sundays when I take mine, now I allow myself a

little treat! Can't help on the itching, I'm afraid.

Dear Marilyn, thank you for the info. Here in Wisconsin its been raining for

the last three weeks, plus cold. I would think I lived in Washington. We get

a lousy three months or so of decent weather and its been bad. The sun is

finally shining today and they say its suppose to start warming up.

Thank You very much Sharon, I used to have one but my AOL got screwed up and

it was lost....I always like to look up new meds because I have an allergic

reaction to sulfa and we all know how doctors are. One wanted to give me

Celebrex, gave me the presciption, looked it up and what did it say " do not

take if your allergic to sulfanates "

I'm sorry, I hardly ever have looked up any medications on the

internet. Once in a while I will check out a new drug for my family

or a friend, but for that I usually just type in the name in a

netscape search and see what comes up. Maybe can help you with

that. Sorry, wish I could be of more help. Hope you are having a

good day. It's getting hot here in WA today. After the past 5 days

I do not know where this e-mail has been in my

computer. However it just all of a sudden popped up.

However, I have asked these same questions before. I

also itch, but mine in all on my head (ears and

scalp). My scalp itches so bad that sometime I used a

hairbrush. My ears itch 24/7 even when I am not

flarring. I have no idea what to do about it though.
