Guest guest
Hello all, I was looking at the photos section and noticed some very old albums (1999, 2000). Also, that section has reached its limit (30.41 Mb out of 30Mb) I've discussed this issue with and she agreed, we should do some cleanup in this section in order to free some space for new members. So, here's what I propose: All members who have posted photos prior to, say, the last six months, remove all their albums within the next week. After that, as a guideline, I suggest we limit postings to 5 pictures per person, and that members who desire to post in the photos section keep in mind to remove their pictures some time after everyone has seen them. We have to keep in mind the number of member in this group is very high, and the time the group has existed so far. We can't possibly host all photos of all members, it'd take just too much space. Several ISPs (Internet Service Provider) offer free space when you sign up with them. It's the case for Videotron, my ISP. I have 5 MB of space, for me to put up all that I want. I encourage people to use this space to create their own web photo album. That would free space around here for members who do not have access to such a service. If you're not sure about that, you can contact your ISP and they will tell you if you have such a space and where to find it, and most importantly, how to use it. Here's a free tool you can download to create your own web album, ready to be uploaded to your private site with your ISP : http://tinyurl.com/2wuen If you don't have space, here are a few places I know that will host your pictures for free : http://www.ofoto.com/Welcome.jsp http://www.villagephotos.com/ http://www.pbase.com ** ** This one is free for 30 days, then you can't upload / download unless you become a paying member. Now, the tough part... I will be forced to remove the photos album to free space if you don't help me. I'm sorry but, again, we can't host pictures forever. It's just not possible. Those members who have posted in the last six months are ok, but the other ones, especially those back in the 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, please be kind and share this group's limited space with newer members. If you have an issue with this, please, please, contact me: carbone AT videotron.ca (remove the AT and replace it with the @ symbol). We'll work out something that will please all, I'm sure! I thank everyone for their cooperation in resolving this issue. Ray
Guest guest
I don't know how to explain what I think on this one, because Yahoo! did some previous " housecleaning " for us. I do think that pictures of folks who present good examples of a variety of problems and treatments are helpful. And I think that's a good consideration. If you're new and have an overbite, an underbite, an open bite, or a deep bite, you may see something similar to your troubles (one hopes, with a repair completed) and be helped. I also think that it's helpful to keep at least one photo of folks who are willing to post pictures and are frequent posters here. The hardest choices, I think, may come with folks who have in the past been frequent posters (and how would you know who they are, Ray? I can't imagine, since a lot of the posts got wiped out...) anyhow, but members may want to see the looks of frequent posters. I'd think five would be a good allotment, if that will do the trick. As I told you in a private e-mail, I think the designs for t-shirt transfers would have a lot of interest to a lot of folks -- they're fun, easy and offer something pleasant in this whole, sometimes difficult adventure. (You print them out onto transfer paper, then do an iron-on -- if you're better at it than am I -- and voila! your t- shirt is there.) Wish I could remember who did them, and maybe someone new, or you, wants to develop another. These were based on the " Survivor " program at its peak. Guest guest
Cammie, I understand the need to keep pictures around here, but I can't possibly judge a case based on a picture. I mean, I'm no specialist. What I would find a good picture, showing a specific case, might not be what other members are seeking. And I know there are several " medical " website that offer pictures to ellaborate on any specific mouth condition. It would be best if people who have pictures of themselves, with a given specific condition (overbite, etc.), be allowed to post the pictures they have, in response to a request from another member, for a short time. Then remove the pictures albums once the requester has acknowledged seeing the pictures. If we keep the last year, or so, photo albums here, chances are, a member requesting to see specific pictures of a certain case will find something to suit his/her desire for knowledge. Those of us who would like to have a permanent place to keep our pictures should search the web for photo hosting site. I've listed a few places earlier but there are hundreds of other reputable places to host pictures. This group's limitation doesn't allow to keep pictures indefinitely. We only have 30Mb and already, with 119 photo albums, we're full. So this space should be considered temporary, at best. I'm sorry, but we have to work with what's given to us. Here are, to begin with, a list of photo albums of members who have left this group at some point in time : cellextras cheerytiffys donnabarham ekg1223 eniarrolmi goudster ikebite jamails2002 jarhodes13 jphollan75115 julesinky man-o-moo marietta307 meowow12 misty91799 nelly3899 nutters.rm orchidsky protrusiveprofile scherer_chris shavis121 sherbritt2001 stationowner ukual34 xavierswiftartisans If you recognize your nickname, please let me know. Also, consider saving these pictures on your hard drive, if those are your originals. Those albums should be deleted in a week. Ray
Guest guest
Nope. I don't see my nickname -- maybe because it's just ol' plain cammie.. I do see some nicknames that I know, but don't suggest that they need to be forever treasures. Is there a way to message them, easily, and let them know that the names (and photos) are going away forever? Could that be a solution? I dunno. I tole you I am not swuft with this stuff... There's no way for me to reach them, as I looked in their profile to try and reach them, Yahoo! states them as bouncing. Ray
