Guest guest
Hey everybody! I am now 1 week post op and feeling pretty good. I only lost 100 ccs of blood, but i still have the splint. I was banded for 24 hrs and then they took them off which was nice. I had trouble the first night, I threw up 4 times, which was incredibly strange b/c i thought i was only going to once but oh well it was a relief once i stopped. My diet is pretty good, i was eating mashed potatoes 3 days post op so I am pretty happy with my results. My swelling has gone down quite a bit and I truly think that the 4 Boosts a day helps with the healing even though I used to hate them so much. I discovered that the vanilla is actually better than the chocolate if you just ate something sweet. I did have some bruising due to the extraction of my four wisdom teeth, but the pain was not bad after the second day. I am now on Children's Motrin and am getting my energy back. I still have a hard time focusing though, in the beginning i could hardly watch tv b/c it hurt my eyes so much. Currently i am starting up on my hw, but it seems as if the words on the screen are kinda of spinning. I hope to be able to back up and ready to go to school monday, i just hope All of the swelling will have subsided by then but I doubt it. I am pretty sure ppl will understand considering i just had major surgery. Anways, thanks for all the advice pre op. It really gave me a positive outlook going in and out so far. tori*
Guest guest
I had the same problem with my eyes. I couldn't focus on anything in print for a week, and for another week I could only read in the mornings. By evening my right eye was bugging out again. Reading large print helped. I had a black eye, and thought that it was the swelling pushing my eye closed. At week two my black eye had gone away, and my eye was still bothering me in the evenings. Now, at week five, I'm still dealing with it being difficult on occasion. I finally figured out that my lower eyelid is numb. I wonder if it's not producing tears the way it should, so my eye is too dry? But drops do nothing to make it feel better. I'm in the zingy, tingly stage with it right now. I didn't mind those so much in my cheeks, but I'm not fond of it in my eye. Squinting sometimes helps me watch TV. Staying away from a lit computer screen in a dark room helps, too. Guest guest
Just to add my pennyworth - I'm also having the same problem with my eyes - just can't read things I would normally be able to and they seem perpetually sore and tired. What I'm worried about is that I've just spent £300 on a new prescription for glasses. I hope my eyes will eventually return to that prescription and I won't need another! On another note have just returned from my surgeon - he's happy with the outcome and says my splint can come out next Thursday (the 3 week mark) I mentioned that my nose seems to have taken a dive to the left. He said it could be fixed (I didn't dare ask how) but for the moment it would be wise to wait until all the swelling is done as that may play a part in it. I suggested it could have been the huge pack stuffed up my right nostril which was left in for 24 hours! Once the splint is out I can start putting triangular elastics on.
