Guest guest
Simone, We spent about $1,800 on a lift chair which we had sent out by air express as it was the only practical way to get it to Guam. It was apparent we had made a mistake soon after we got it. The chair was well made and did everything it was supposed to do. The problem was that it was way too big for Peg - and Peg is a fairly large woman. She could never sit in it comfortably. In addition it had dual motor controls which means that to get to to do what you wanted you had to use two levers correctly. Because of Peg's eye hand coordination problems, she was never really able to use the chair by herself. If we had to do it over, we would go to a shop that carried a dozen or so chairs and try them out until we found one that was the right size for Peg. In addition we would only get one with a very simple control to use. Good luck. I have asked his neurologist to write a prescription for a " lift " chair. I think insurance (Medicare) should pay for some of the $900 quoted for the chair. Has anyone out here used such a chair....was it helpful? Also did insurance cover it at all? Thanks.
