Bouncing members notice

Hello again,

Yesterday evening, I read through the entire bouncing members list

of our group. One thing that stroke me, some people are very imaginative

when it comes to choosing a nickname (orthofreak comes to mind!)

We currently have 865 members which e-mail address have

rejected one or several of this group's postings. Now, of all those members,

417 are Hard Bouncer, meaning that Yahoo! has sent them e-mail

probes (sometimes up to 35 probes) and they remained unanswered.

The others are Soft Bouncing, this means that, from time to time, their

inbox is too full to receive this group postings, but ordinarely, the

mailings get through.

Yahoo! sometimes shuts down group for which the number of bouncing

members becomes too high. In order to prevent this from happening here,

I've uploaded a list in the Files section, named " hard bouncers.txt " , which

contains the nickname of all the members who are bouncing.

If you see your nickname on this list, you need to check your Yahoo! profile,

and update your e-mail address as soon as possible. Also, consider changing

your membership profile to no e-mail, or perhaps special notice only or daily

digest instead of individual posts. It may also be a simple case where the

member has moved from one ISP (Internet Service Provider) to another,

and forgot about puting up their new e-mail address in their Yahoo! profile.

I don't want to kick members out, that's not the point. The point is to make

sure this group stays in good shape (so as its member before and after their

surgery!). Next week, I will redo this exercise, this time, removing hard

bouncing members.

As a good precaution, I suggest you visit your Yahoo! profile to make sure

you're not a hard or soft bouncer neither. If indeed you're one of those,

perhaps simply change your membership e-mail preferences to daily digest

will do the trick.

Thank you all for your cooperation,

Ray
