Guest guest
hi... okay, so to everyone who has an open bite, you will understand this. i can BITE!!! i mean really bite down on food and the contents of my bean burrito do not spill out onto my lap. i am 6 1/2 weeks post-op from upper and lower jaw surgery. the wires came off three days ago and i've been in heaven rediscovering my favorite foods (well, the soft ones anyway). but i was just sitting here at my desk eating my taco bell burrito and it occured to me that i can bite! and its wonderful! just had to share... heather
Guest guest
, This is music to my hears !!! And it must be for all us, I'm sure. Do you have any online pictures we could look at? I'm sure it you must have changed a lot, for the best I mean. I'm at the point where I can't bite in sandwiches (white ordinary bread) if they're made of sliced prepared meat. My teeth are more misaligned now that they were before, in preparation for the surgery, so I can't bite in almost anything these days. A picture's worth a thousand word, I wish I had my camera with me the other day... I was at the local fast food restaurant, eating my cheeseburger with a fork and knife... The waitress was staring at me like I was from Mars.. LOL ! Of course, I knew this was going to happen, so as soon as the treatment proceeded, I realized soft stuff I use to be able to bite in were getting more and more difficult to " attack " . Anyway, that's gonna be history in just a few months! It's " T minus 34 days now " , for me Ray P.S. Got a call from the hospital this morning. Pre op exams are next Friday.. Woohoo!!!! Guest guest
I can relate. I have had an open bite all my life, and I have never been able to eat a sandwich- meat, lettuce, half of a tomatoe, it all just pulls back out. I use a knife and fork a lot, but growing up I learned to use my tongue to cut somethings against my upper teeth. This was hard at times until I had a frenectomy (the thingy under my tongue cut). I couldn't spit out my tongue either! It's weird... people always think I look normal, but I have never felt normal. I have surgery in T minus 5 days and counting! Congrats, ! I can't wait to say the same thing! And hey, spilling a little food on my chin after surgery is gonna be nothing compared to this! ~Cathy Re: i can bite , This is music to my hears !!! Guest guest
unfortunately i don't have any pictures. i did not think ahead of time to take before pics and so the after pics would not mean anything to anyone since you can't see what i looked like before! lol! but it has changed my appearance for the better. before my chin stuck out and it made me look constantly angry. now, its back where it should be and so cute! i love it. but i still look like ME which i'm glad about. i didn't want to look like a different person, just how i am SUPPOSED to look. anyway, i'm still building up to chewing solid foods but already i can notice several benefits of this surgery. i think the pros outweigh the cons in my case. good luck with your surgery and soon you too will be able to bite! lol! heather > , > > This is music to my hears !!!
