Guest guest
Micheal, Many thank for sharing all your experiences with everyone. When did you have yours done? I know you got it at columbia pres. Just a few questions for you. How long did you have to wait for surgery whn you had your initial meeting with Dr eisig/columbia pres? and where you wired? if so how do they actually wire you?, are your braces shut together or is it the bones that are wired?. Thanks again
Guest guest
Had surgery last Monday (4/19/04). To be honest, I saw Dr. E before I had the braces put on, WAY back in the beginning of the process. First saw him for a consult back in Dec 2002. Then started the process, but I had a SARPE (surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion) of my upper jaw in June 2003 (by Dr. E). Then got braces in August 2003. My ortho and Dr. E felt my teeth were ready for surgery by Feb/March 2004. And I had to fight a bit with insurance, which brought me to April 2004 for the surgery. Not quite sure what you mean for the wires, but as I understand, the upper bones are held together by titanium plates & screws. The lower is then wired via my braces to the splint (like a plastic bite plate in between my upper and lower teeth) which is also wired to my upper braces. So basically, they use the braces to wire you shut...not sure how else is would be done. But Dr. E will explain the whole thing to you on Monday. Good luck. > Micheal, > > Many thank for sharing all your experiences with everyone. > > When did you have yours done?
