Guest guest
I am writing on behalf of my father who has been diagnosed as having MSA since three years now. There is one specialist hospital and research institute in India where he is currently being helped. One of the doctors here has prescribed ‘Midodrine’. They believe that it will help him to be more comfortable and have a better standard of living. Unfortunately midodrine is not available in India. We spoke to Dr.Mathias of the Matheson Trust in London and they said that they will be unable to give us a prescription without actually seeing the patient. Hence it seems impossible for him to get the much needed medication. Can anybody suggest another solution to this problem? Thank you. Yours sincerely, Prashant _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
Guest guest
Hello Prashant, I've just forwarded your message to someone who has contacts at Shire Pharmaceuticals in the USA (the makers of Midodrine). I'm hoping he'll be able to suggest some way to get the medicine to your father. In the meantime though there are other medications to help the low blood pressure symptom. Please read this article which includes a list of medications useful in managing MSA symptoms. Table 9 lists all the drugs useful for Orthostatic Hypotension (low blood pressure): http://www.emedicine.com/neuro/topic671.htm Also drinking lots of water (at least 64 oz per day) can help to keep the blood pressure elevated. Take care, Pam Midodrine > > I am writing on behalf of my father who has been diagnosed as having MSA > since three years now. Guest guest
Prashant: When Selegilene was not available in America, we got it from Austria for Ken. Our doctor wrote to a doctor in Austria who arranged for a pharmacy in Vienna to send it. When we needed a new supply, I mailed our doctor's prescription to the Vienna doctor, and he wrote one to the pharmacy, and they sent it to me. We paid in advance. This was complicated, but it did work until the drug was approved here. You need the cooperation of your doctor in India to do this and a doctor in another country who will help. Guest guest
Dear Pam, Can't thank you enough. Really hope we can obtain the drug somehow. Also looked at the link you sent me. Will enquire if any of the drugs mentioned are available in India. Will also speak to the doctor. Thanks again.
