I had upper jaw surgery to correct an open bite in Oct. of 03. LIke

you, I was very hesitant to get the ball rolling so to speak. At the

time I had my braces put on I was 32, I certainly wasn't looking

forward to having braces. BUT - I did tons of research, spoke to

several doctors, dentists and surgeons, and made up my mind to take

care of this open bite once and for all.

So I wore the braces for 6 months and then was ready for the

surgery! I won't lie, the recovery is kind of lousy for the first

couple of weeks, but the results are totally worth it (for me anyway).

I am nearing the end of my orthodontic treatment and will be rid of

the braces sometime this summer. I love my new bite and am thrilled

with the functional results too.

I bet you have a difficult time biting into sandwiches, sushi,

fruit,,,I am sure the list goes on right?

If you only need upper surgery, you will most likely NOT be wired

which is a huge plus.

I say go for it! If I made it through the surgery & recovery, then

you certainly can. I am a total primadona, wimp, complainer and I

swear it wasnt as bad as I expected. Only one night in the hospital

and home the very next morning.

Please feel free to email me with questions and I would be happy to

send you before & after photos.

My email is elijahdoll@...

Best regards,
