Thank You Sandy, He only gave me a weeks supply, I am a Type II diabetic. Ya

know the more I go to him the more valuable he becomes. I think he's one

smart guy. Also, this morning I met with his assistant and he was so

interested in this disease and spent 1/2 hour talking to me about it. He

could become an asset. The only problem is he's Hispanic (no prejudice) I

just don't have an ear for dialects. It doesn't matter which one just catch

about 50%. I sure thank you for you input. This is a new drug for me so I'm

always cautious....Sue

Hi All, went to see PCP this morning...no more Pred, because I'm

having some kidney pain. Did urine sample...Almost afraid to be off

Pred but he said I did good on it and it seemed to have helped me and

its time to be off. Oh, when I got the dermatisis the dermy said to

go on Pred and it should stop the itching, Meth people...But remember

I also had a rash. For itching I used to use an oatmeal bath. You can

buy the stuff at the drug store. Took a bath right before bed and it

did help. Do have a sinus infection though and for some reason I've

been nauseated off and on. I usually have " iron gut. " He gave me a 30

day supply of Prevacid for naususa. This may help those of you who

are having trouble with your Meth. He also had about a gallon of

blood drawn so we'll see what happens with that. For the people who

have type II diabetes and take glucophage, there is a long lasting

Glucophage that you only take one a day. He says it should be much

cheaper too.

Has anybody taken Levaquin? Oh he also gave me Vioxx for pain.

Ain't life interesting? Wouldn't miss it for the world...Sue

Hi Sue,

I was on levaquin for a respiratory infection. It was prescribed by my PCP.

My pulmonologist told me you can not be on it for a long time as it can

cause tendon rupture or damage. It can

also affect blood sugar levels.

It did work well for me.

Dear Liz, back in 98 my pcp said maybe I could get off the glucophage too. So

far it hasn't happened. So glad to hear the good news about Levaquin, my

sinus infection has just started so it may do the trick. I know what you mean

about " no fuss " my doctor always gives me more refills. Had a presciption for

good old amoxicillin for years. Had it refilled. took it, bingo done deal.

Heck I eat plenty, and after about 5 months on Pred I've got about 30 pounds

to loose. I guess we can't go to the doctor after each ache and pain but its

still scary.... I'm going to price the one a day pill for gluco...will let

you know....Love Sue

Sue, I took Levaquin last year for a sinus infection

and this year for a mild pulmonary infection. Helped

both times, I had no noticable side effects. When I

have any sort of bacterial infection I start myself on

antibiotics if I can't get to a doctor. I used to put

it off, and " not want to make a fuss " and I used to

end up in the ER or even as an inpatient. Now I do

not wait. Since I have adopted this policy

(encouraged by my pulmonologist and my rheumy) I have

been pretty much OK.

I have heard about the Glucophage XR, I plan to ask

about it when I get back to LA. At the moment I am

taking 500 three times a day; once would be much more

convenient. Mind you, if I get off pred altogether I

might be able to get off anti diabetic meds

altogether, again. Still I dont mind glucophage,

because you don't generally get hypos, also it seems

to depress appetite rather than increase it like

glyburide etc. You take care of yourself, love Liz
