Hi all- Just an interesting note. It has been mentioned lately about cats

being diagnosed with RP. When Pete first got sick and he was in the hospital

and they didn't have a clue what was wrong with him...they did an

unbelievable amount of tests for all sorts of weird and foreign diseases plus

multiple biopsies all over his poor body. Anyway he came back positive for

Cat Scratch Fever which they felt had nothing to do with why he was ill but

they treated him for it with an antibiotic...then the next day his ear blew

up and the rest is history...RP...I told Pete's doc about it and we deceided

to let the group know in case anyone is keeping records of " odd ball " things

that RP patients have had. It's funny but whenever Pete's doc and I are

discussing RP we always mention insecticides..it does come up alot. Hope

everyone is feeling well and having a pain free day You are all in my prayers

Love Janet

Dear Janet,

Oh, this was so interesting!!! About 3 years ago I was bite real bad

by a stray cat that had invaded our yard. He was a mean one. Tore

my son and the police officer up too. I went right in to the doctor

and was given a tetanus shot then went on Doxocycline (tetracycline)

for 10 days. The cat was impounded for 10 days at the vets and they

said he did not have rabies. They did find a home for the cat. Hope

by then he was better behaved. But, that finger he bite would still

hurt some times even a year after the incident. I have two cats now

and have noticed that when ever our young one accidentally scratches

me that I can count on getting a flare up a few days later, even

though I clean it good and put medicine on it. I've been told that

I'm allergic to cats so I don't let them sleep in my room, but I

thought the doctor meant I was allergic to their dander. Marilyn

Janet, thanks for the infor... I also had cat scratch fever years ago. Hmmmm!

I too am still thinking about insecticides.. We live on an old almond

orchard. For the first 5 years we lived here they would crop dust the trees

in the orchard behind our house. The spray would blow right into our house

or if we were outside right on us. The orchard was only 20 ft from our

fence. I use to do alot of gardening and was in the soil all the time. Was

never sick until we moved here. Just think there might be some kind of

connection.
