Guest guest
someone told me their surgeon suggested the 4-2-1 plan to lose the weight after wls. It is 4 bites of protein, 2 of veggies and one bite of starch or fruit and you are to eat three times a day at the same times every day. my question to anyone who knows is, how long are you to stay on this program. I mean, do you stay on this for a year or for however long it takes to lose all the weight or do you increase the number of bites at any given time? Thanks for your help, pat in kentucky

Very, very silly...

But, if you've tried it, and it works for you, by all means, go for it. My preference now is the 5-6 small meals program. For me, with 3 meals a day, I get really hungry in between meals, then would start feeling deprived and dwelling too much on the next meal, and we all know what can happen then. Although I still dwell on food all too much, I don't overeat (usually) if I space out my little meals more often. I also never feel deprived that way. I don't think one way is better than the other, it's just what works for each of us. in NJ

Guest guest
It would not fill me up either, but the proportions are really good, in my opinion. I was told, and I *actually* pretty much follow it, to have animal protein first.......we gotta' have it and it's more filling than carbs, then some veggies, then a starch if I have room. Last night was salmon and green beans, lunch was fried redfish and okra gumbo. I still have to chew food a lot. I think the action of chewing meat satisfies some of my hunger. I notice I'm always able to eat more at lunch than at dinner. I'm doing protein shakes in the mid-afternoon and right before bedtime to help build muscle. They're not like diet pills, but they do seem to take the edge off the cookie monster. in Austin RNY April 1998 Re: question about the 4-2-1 plan > In a message dated 12/13/02 3:16:14 PM Central Standard Time, > PATISINKY@... writes: > > << > someone told me their surgeon suggested the 4-2-1 plan to lose the weight > after wls.
