hi there, how are you doing. I have had some trouble

with my eyes, the whites will turn very red and my

eyes will swell shut. I think this is called iritis

not real sure. also my vision has changed. Also i

think that you need to have your presssures in your

eyes checked, because some of the meds will raise the

pressures in your eyes. I am lucky my pressure were

always low anyway like below 10 and now that they are

only a little above 10 like between 11 and 15 my eye

dr doesn't worry to much, he told me that he doesn't

treat the pressures until they start pushing 20's. so

i am in good shape there.

Marilyn and Sandy N, My eyes have just took a turn for the worse. I think.

LOL iln, mine keep watering too, for no reason. I find I can't see to

read as well or even watch tv. Bright lights really effect me. I have made

an appt for next friday with my eye dr. I had my eyes checked in Oct by the

opthomologist and he said they were fine at that time. I will see now.

Somehting just isn't right. They never hurt, but are really red sometimes.

Yes RP does affect the eyes. There is cartilage there. Hope someone else can

answer the question on what your dr. is to look for. knock on wood it hasn't

affected my eyes yet. Are you having problems or is this a reg. check up.

Connie R. knows a lot about the eyes and Janet just wrote about Pete. Maybe

they can help!

>How does RP act when you have eye problems. My left eye has been

watering, itching and sore for the last 4 days. I keep rubbing it

constantly. Only my left eye. I've been blaming it on allergies

because the tree pollen is so bad here now but maybe it's the RP.

Would like to know what symptoms others have. Thanks. Love, Marilyn

Hi, I used to get iritis years ago and it is very painful...especially to

light. I would have to stay in a dark room or cover the eye. Was given

steroid drops and it does clear up in a couple days. Hope this helps....Sue

Sandy N.

In regard to your question about eyes and RP.

The prednisone is the culprit -

I have cateracts on both eyes that are prednisone induced!!!

The right has become so bad that I am having surgery to remove the

cateract!!

Also there is cartilage in the orbits and etc and when that becomes

inflammed - you have pressure and that in turn causes lots of eye pain!!

and headache!!

Hi Everyone, Rene' here,

I know i haven't been posting, but hopefully, I will be able to post more

often. My back is doing much better, I still can not walk like I use to,

however I'm doing okay.

To all the new members welcome, I have been around for awhile, I was dx

w/Lupus, in 1990 and RP in 1999. So let see it's been ooooh 2 years. I have

my ups and downs but I'm doing just fine. (LOL) Hang in there!!! The more u

know that better u can handle this disease.

Hi Barbara, I must agree w/you the pred has given me cataracts in both eyes.

However, before I started taking the pred, I was having severe pain in both

eyeballs, Oh BOY, what fun. (LOL) Even w/the pred I still get pain in my

eyes, but it is not as bad as it was. Eyes are also red in the morning and

when the pain starts, I can count on it that they are red. I know sometimes

when I'm out people think I was out drinking the night before. (LOL)

Tell me something Barb, are both your cataracts rippening at the same time.

The reason why I'm asking, because both of my eyes are rippening at the same

time, and I'm just concern about the removal of both cataracts at the same

time. Gee, does that mean that I'm not going to have the privilege to tell

my children to pick up their clothes and clean the kitchen. (LOL)

love

Rene'

Dear Rene'

No my caratacts are not rippening at the same time - The right eye just

seems like it got worse all of a sudden - one day I could see and the

next it was all cloudy and has been getting worse by the day - can't

wait to have it taken care of - and of course can't get on the surgical

schedule as it is not emergent - so have waited over a month and am

having same day surgery on Thurs of this week - wish me luck!!!

Take care,

And hope you can get yours taken care of soon!!! I wish you luck also!!
