Guest guest
Everyone, I just found this website today. I have a question. How do I get the process started for orthognathic surgery? As a teenager my parents took me to various dentists/orthodontists, etc but that was many years ago. I've forgotten who they are, moreover my insurance company has changed. So, where do I go from here? I see a dentist every 6 months. At my last appt, they suggest I go to their " Facial Pain Clinic " Is that the best place to start? Sorry for the silly question, I just want to get a general idea on the process and timeframe this would take. Thanks! Jo
Guest guest
have your dentist refer you to an orthodontist. make sure that he or she accepts your insurance. most orthos will give a free consult. from there, assuming you do in fact need surgery, your ortho can refer you to an oral surgeon. my ortho and oral surgeon have worked together on several surgery cases and i felt secure to know they had a good working relationship. then your ortho will start your pre- surgery orthodontics and then when he feels you are ready, he will pass you over to the OS. > Everyone, > I just found this website today.
