Guest guest
Hey all -- Don't mean to bug you, but didn't receive responses on the thigh lift and, I mean, NORMAL thigh lift and any particulars, i.e., recovery time, how you felt, could you walk right after, drains, general costs associated? I've grown to learn much on the abdominoplasty issue from you folks, but would like to know more on the thighs. And, Miss Sue in Las Vegas -- I know you DID reply, but I mean, I wanted to hear from someone with a LESS DRAMATIC recovery. I mean, your life is so EVENTFUL that hopefully I won't experience half of what you did! LOL So, again, is there anyone out there with a rather " routine " leg lift who would please respone? Other, of course, than our faithful Miss Sue? =) I've been approved for an abdominoplasty & thigh lift on February 14. And, yes, I realize this will be no " walk-in-the-park, " but would like first-hand testimonials from my friends here. I really respect your guys experiences the most! Thanks all!! Guest guest
Thank you, Lori!! So, after your and Dave's suggestions, I'm now leaning towards a medical " walker. " That way, whomever annoys me, I can take 'em ALL out in one swoop, as opposed to picking 'em off one-by-one like Dave!! Guest guest
Bobbie.....I think the reason that you are not getting any responses is because there aren't too many people out there who have had their thighes done!! Insurance is tough with the thighs......and according to my P.S there isn't a whole lot that you can do with the thighs that people would be happy with, so maybe a lot just don't bother with them!........I am still waiting to hear from insurance about mine......wish I could help!!!! Guest guest
Bobbie: I had a thigh lift and the most difficult part was sitting. That made the recovery kind of tedious, because I couldn't sit comfortably for several weeks....it felt like pulling. Having said that, I would highly recommend a cane, and one of those toilet seats that raise the whole thing about 12 inches. When your legs are all stitched up, it's a long way down. The cane is to beat people with and help you get up. in Austin RNY April 1998 Thigh Lift - Again > Hey all -- > > Don't mean to bug you, but didn't receive responses on the thigh lift and, I > mean, NORMAL thigh lift and any particulars, i.e., recovery time, how you > felt, could you walk right after, drains, general costs associated? Guest guest
Bobbie, I have not had any work done to my thighs, although I would love to have the excess skin removed. I was thinking the same thing as Dave as far as a cane or maybe even a walker. It certainly helps with mobility. Lori Owen - Denton, Texas CHF 4/14/01 479 lbs. SRVG 7/16/01 401 lbs. Guest guest
Yep, and you can always blame it on those darn wheels on the walker. They just seem to have a mind of there own. :-) I actually have both. When I had congestive heart failure about 18 months ago, I was wheelchair bound for a few months and had to work my way up. I was fortunate that all I really needed with the panni was my cane. I think it had more to do with my own insecurities then an actual necessity. I am NOT willing to give up my walker at this point. I am looking at getting hip an knee replacements when I can loose a few more pounds and have insurance again. Good luck to ya. Let us know how the surgery went. Guest guest
, The thigh lift is just that ... the thighs all around, which become " deflated " with weight loss and become like " bat wings " on the arms, but these are usually the inner thighs. Blubbery skin being removed and tightened. Mine is because of previous scar tissue on the outer thigh (not WLS-related), that is being " cleaned up, " thus the " reconstructive " surgery which will entail the inside of the leg/thigh in addition to fixing the outer thigh scar tissue. The surgeon is coding it as a thigh lift, but I think that will have to change as this is not " cosmetic " as that code suggests, but medically necessary due to the scaring having a death-grip on my leg muscles (after 47 years). Now, is this all as clear as mud?? =) Bobbie Anchorage, AK

You mean when your buns hang down and it's wrinkly in your thighs or are you talking about below the pubic area? B
Guest guest
There's two kinds, basically: thighplasty and thigh lift. In the first, incisions running vertically down your (usually inner) thigh are made, and the excess skin is removed. That is often a painful and delicate recovery challenge, and infection is a constant threat until the wounds are healed. The lift is usually a horizontal incision in which a swath of skin is removed, and the thigh flesh is lifted up and re-sewn to the skin near the waist. I had my thighs and butt lifted at the same time as my abdominoplasty (bariatric tummy tuck), so it was like a 3 " -4 " belt was cut out of me and the flesh re-attached. --Steve At 10:28 PM -0500 12/14/02, 71160@... wrote: >Okay, call me stupid, but what is a " thigh lift " ? Guest guest
Steve, I can't IMAGINE how the inner thigh skin could be lifted and sewn in the region of your WAIST... wouldn't that sort of cover up your important parts? Or give you weird flaps over your hips? I think something about that visual's not working for me. My plastic surgeon does his medial thighlift with one incision on each side of the groin that runs from the edge of the mons around to the bum crack (does that have an official name? LOL) He does lipo from the groin to the knee on the inner aspect of the thighs, then takes the excess skin and lifts it very tight, sort of like pulling up a sock, and then he's very careful to suspend what he lifts from one of the supportive groin ligaments. This apparently keeps the scar from creeping out of the groin, which I understand happens fairly commonly with this surgery if the skin is sewn to skin, and it avoids suspending the thigh structure from the ligaments which support the vagina and other internal pelvic structures; doing that can cause all sorts of stretching and problems with that area, causing incontinence and worse... hearing about this stuff convinced me that thigh lifts should only be done by HIGHLY skilled plastic surgeons. Dr. Egrari also does the more extensive thighplasty that involves the groin cut AND an incision down the inside of the thigh to the knee, but he would only do that procedure on someone who has a lot more thigh skin than I do. He told me about one woman whose thigh skin hung down past her knees... she was the ideal candidate for that surgery and had great success though she will always have those scars on the insides of her legs. I would consider that preferable to that level of excess skin, but I'm glad I'll only have the basically invisible groin scar. Guest guest
Of course you cannot visualize it. And, I don't believe that I wrote what you inferred. I made a distinction between an outer thigh lift and thighplasty. My procedure was an outer thigh lift. I did not know about the inner thigh lift that you described. I support your decision to give the inner thigh lift a second thought for yourself. You seem to have found a superb plastic surgeon, and based on your writings over these past months, if I were located in Gatesland, I would also choose him for my own PS. Still, your reasoning about tabling the decision for now makes a lot of sense. Keep the faith; shed the flesh! --Steve At 3:34 AM -0800 12/15/02, Ziobro wrote: >I can't IMAGINE how the inner thigh skin could be lifted and sewn in >the region of your WAIST... wouldn't that sort of cover up your >important parts?
