Question on skin conditions with MSA

I think I have read before that patients with MSA tend to have some skin

conditions. I seem to recall that they(we) get oily around the nose and

also dry on the forehead. I have that but wasn't always sure if it was the

MSA or not. Lately I developed a reddening and thickening of the skin on

one of my eyelids. I suppose I should have it looked at but some how can't

bear the thought of another doctor. I also seem to be getting many little

white bumps on my arms. I'll call them bumpules for lack of a better name.

Okay to the point I am wondering if anybody else has had similar

developments with their skin. It could just be natural aging but I am trying

to figure out if it is something I can ignore. My bigger problem at the

moment is with OH and temperature regulation now that the weather has gotten

hot. I see the proamatine doctor in a week to discuss this part.

,

You are not alone. Several of us have frequent rashes that cover our

bodies. My skin is oily in area's and flaky in others. My forehead looks

like zit city from the teenage years while my nose is always peeling.

I know you are tired of docs but you should find a good dermatologist to

put on your team. You will be glad you did later on if you should develop a

rash from something.

So far, our current team medical leader is my internist. Everything goes

through him. I am waiting to see another new MDS neuro in SC next month. I

have an infectious disease doc, a pain management doc, a dermatologist, an

immunologist, have gone through 3 neuros and 1 neurosurgeon, 2 psychiatrists

and 1 allergist who couldn't help. Having a " team " with a " team leader "

helps when you develop new symptoms as far as getting them treated quickly

and correctly.

Hello Vera,

No I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, just having computer

troubles, etc.

Warren's skin is very dry and flaky and I also noticed his toe nails are

cracking and very dry. His scalp itches and even tho' we use baby oil,

skin cream etc it doesn't seem to help. Think the ProAmatine is the

cause as it was listed as a side effect.

Warren is declining very fast and sleeps most the time that I see him.

Seems to have mixed his days and nights like a child.

Your trip to Vegas sounds very tiring but am glad you were able to go.

I have noticed that is developing lots of facial whitheads, rather like a

he has never in his life suffered from this. Has anyone else.

My husband works out in the yard, sometimes on very hot days. It is on those

days that we have noticed a red rash on his temples as well as his forhead.

Seems to go away in a few days.

HI.

I WAS WONDERING ABOUT THIS JUST THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS...

I HAVE A RECURRENT SKIN CONDITION ON MY CHEEKS - TO THE LEFT AND

RIGHT OF MY NOSE, BUT NOT ON MY NOSE. MY SKIN WILL PEEL BIG TIME -

AND DO THIS REPEATEDLY, DAY AFTER DAY, THEN CEASE, THEN RESUME.

SEEMINGLY NO RHYME NOR REASON (AS APPEARS TYPICAL OF THIS DISEASE).

THE PATTERN SEEMED CONSISTENT WITH LUPUS, AND AS I HAD MANY (MOST) OF

THE OTHER SYMPTOMS, THAT WAS AN INITIAL DIAGNOSIS A YEAR AGO.

HOWEVER, MY ANA KEEPS COMING BACK NEGATIVE. (DOCS MUST HAVE

SUSPECTED SOMETHING ALONG THIS LINE FOR NEARLY A DECADE THOUGH,

BECAUSE I'VE HAD ANA TESTS FOR THAT LONG - WITH EACH UNEXPLAINED

ILLNESS - ALWAYS ABNORMALITIES - BUT ANA ALWAYS NEGATIVE.)

ANYWAY, PERHAPS THIS BETTER FITS INTO THIS CATEGORY. MY INTERNIST

SAID THAT MY RASH IS REALLY NOT CONSISTENT WITH LUPUS, AS SCARRING

DOES NOT OCCUR (EVEN THOUGH THIS RASH HAS BEEN RECURRENT FOR AS LONG

AS I CAN REMEMBER - NOT CONSTANT - JUST RECURRENT).

REGARDING OILY VERSUS DRY, MY FOREHEAD HAS ALWAYS BEEN DRY - UNTIL

THIS LATEST REGRESSION - AND SINCE THEN IT HAS BEEN OILY. MAKE

SENSE? OF COURSE NOT :-)

CATCHA LATER. REALLY NEED TO GO WRITE SOME REPORTS.
