After having a migraine that lasted for over a month and a half with

two trips to the ER, one admission, MRI's, CAT scans, a lumbar puncture,

lots of narcotics, etc, etc., they never found out what it was from or

if I will ever get a migraine this bad again. I've had a number of them

since, the shortest one lasting 7 hours and the longest lasting 4 days.

Better than a month and a half. On Imitrex, 75mg and if that doesn't

take care of it, I use Vicodin to cover the breakthrough pain. So, I

just deal and pray that I don't get another one lasting for over a

month.

You know, my brain must still be on vacation. The only foods I

ever remember my doctor stating may be a cause for migraines (and this

was pre-wls) was chocolate and dairy products. And to be totally honest,

to eliminate dairy products, I automatically had to eliminate chocolate

since I loved hot chocolate and milk chocolate. If that did not work

then I suggested citrus. But never anything else food related. In fact,

he even recommended caffeine because it opened up the blood vessels.

This made sense considering the fact that migraines restricted blood

flow. It is also a little ironic that your doctor would take you off of

everything at one time. How are you going to know what caused the

migraine if he takes you off of everything at the same time?

For me personally, I discovered that I only had migraines when I

was totally stressed. When I finally left the job that I totally hated,

the headaches almost completely disappeared. I have had one migraine in

the last couple of years and that was because of a wonderful (NOT)

supervisor I had.
