Guest guest
Hi everyone. I am 39 years old female and I had upper/lower/genio on March 25 (6 weeks ago) to correct my open bite and facial asymmetry. The first week was very rough but I felt that everything was okay. I saw my surgeon yesterday for checkup and he told me that my upper jaw was little loose. Actually I have been having weird feeling that my teeth are soft when I bite. Also when I lie down on the bed I feel that my upper jaw is sinking toward the bed. I thought it was normal after this surgery but it was not normal at all. He said that if it was the lower jaw it would be a problem and another surgery would be required. But since it's upper jaw, all I have to do is to stick to soft food for several months and see how it goes. I am so scared. The bone is not stable 6 weeks post-op, doesn't it mean bone had already healed without sticking together? This idea really scares me because it means I will have this loose jaw forever unless I cut my jaw again. My next appointment is in three months and according to my surgeon, nothing helps except eating soft food. Does anyone here have the same experience? Is there anyone who had a loose jaw but be fixed later? I really appreciate if anyone could give me any advice. The idea that I might have to get another surgery is killing me. Thanks. Guest guest
Sorry to hear that this is going on with you. I have heard of it before. Follow your doctors instructions and keep us posted. I know that no one has had an answer for you yet. But we are here for you to at least " vent " . a > Hi everyone. Guest guest
Thank you for your kind words a. Since I haven't got any response from anyone who has the same problem, I assume that I am a rare case. I am just crossing my fingers and trying to convince myself that it's not a big problem. I think the great thing about this group is that we can " vent " . I have no one to talk about it because it's very personal. Also I don't want my family worried too much. I am thinking about my loose jaw all the time, but I have never talked about it to anyone. It's very tough. Thanks again, you are very kind. Pinky > Sorry to hear that this is going on with you. I have heard of it > before. Follow your doctors instructions and keep us posted.
