Hi - No Pete has never been given anything for his eyes..He has gone to

some opthamologists with really good reputations and they have never

prescribed anything!! is away until Wednesday and the office said I

should hear from him by the end of the week. Would like to take Pete to see

him as soon as possible. I mean how can you be practically blind 3 out of 7

days a week and there is nothing wrong?? Thanks for the post...will keep you

all posted. Janet

Has Pete ever tried Chloroquine? Not the greatest for the eyes, but

monitored it may be OK. is monitoring my eyes. Chloroquine is a

quinine analogue; may bring some relief to other symptoms.... Try drinking

diet tonic water, see if a slight quick feeling of improvement in mouth...

Hi- Pete went to Harkness Eye Pavillion too...he saw a Dr.Trokel who was

very

nice and very thorough but admitted he knew nothing about RP..I brought some

info about the eyes and RP which he took the time to read...so now we are

trying to set up an appointment with C. in Boston who is

knowledgeable in RP and the eyes. Pete's eyes are getting worse and the only

thing that seems to help is the pred which makes the eyes worse at the same

time...very frustrating. Janet

Sorry to confuse. The chloroquine is not for the eyes particularly. It is

for the RP. It can hurt the eyes if not monitored. I was just wondering

whether Pete, with all his troubles, has ever been on Chloroquine. It is the

only thing that helps me, but it doesnt seem to be used very much.

I didn't know that they still had Chloroquine on the market, they replaced

this w/hydrochloroquine. I took this back in 1992 or 1993. It was taken off

the market here in the US because it was so toxic. I'm surprised u are

taking it. One thing I know about chloroquine u must have ur eyes check

often. U must be carefully w/this one.

love

Rene
