Guest guest
Well, I guess I missed Cinco de Mayo~ But I will have something to celebrate every year from now on! I was scheduled for Upper and Lower surgery, 5 1/5 hrs. The actual surgery only took 3 1/2. Everything is lined up wonderfully!! I am so excited. I am, however, very swollen. My sinus are all swollen, but at least I can breathe out of my nose. I have had a few nose bleeds from the drainage, they have been more irritating then anything else... and mucus is never pretty. I was not wired or banded after surgery. Though after I left the hospital (one night in) I went by the OS, and he put in two rubber bands. He said that I could take them out to eat- yeah right!! I couldn't get my fingers in there if I tried! I have been eating liquids, though I have the okay to eat soft foods. I just don't feel up to it. I love the zip-n-squeeze bags. My mother-in-law made some great chicken broth and my husband made me the best mashed potatoes with it! I felt so much better. One weird thing, I think every time I eat I feel my sinuses feeling up... I don't know if they really are, but it sure feels that way! I take it slow anyway, just in case. You are all amazing people and I am so grateful to have found this group. I definitely would not do this purely for cosmetic reasons, but I can' t wait to finally have the perfect bite and the perfect smile Thanks ~Cathy
Guest guest
Congratulations Cathy! I'm sure it feels great to have it done with. I'm just curious, what was your pre-op condition? Overbite, underbite, etc? That is awesome that you didn't have to be wired or banded. I'm set to have my surgery on June 2...I hope my surgery goes as well as yours. Good luck with the recovery! -AJ > Well, I guess I missed Cinco de Mayo~ But I will have something to celebrate every year from now on! > > I was scheduled for Upper and Lower surgery, 5 1/5 hrs. Guest guest
Thanks, AJ. I " had " an underbite and assymetry. Whenever I smiled my teeth would be open 1/2 inch in the front and my chin jutted way out to the left. I have always been very self conscious of it, though people around me say they never noticed until I pointed it out. I have started to regain sensation now. Last night I could feel the cold from the ice packs for the first time through my cheeks. Then this morning, I could feel pain~ yippie... I was hoping to avoid pain medicine, but I took a Loritab. I am not against them, just don't like to use anything I don't need... and I don't want to need them! ~Cathy Re: Post-op May 5th Surgery Congratulations Cathy!
