Guest guest
I went to a wls support group meeting where a woman reported on her recent ps. She said when she stood sideways her mons stuck out and she felt like she was walking around with a penis in her pants. She said in retrospect she would have been adamant with her ps to pay attention to this area. She strongly recomended writing a list of important points , reviewing it with the nurse, talking to the surgeon point by point before any drugs, and giving a copy of the list to the head nurse and surgeon before surgery. I am clueless, just passing it on. Vicki A. > >Okay, call me stupid, but what is a " thigh lift " ? Guest guest
LOL with empathy, I described it to my PS as looking like a cross dresser. Mine happened because of gravity and developing a seroma on the mons post abdomnioplasty. (He did a great job of reducing the mons during the initial abdomnioplasy as it was discussed and agreed upon pre op.) I think too often we go into a " tummy tuck " with the trusting idea that the procedure with the best possible outcome addressing all tht we are thinking about will be addressed by the surgeon. Many people don't even know pre op that the mons is going to be an issue post op, as many couldn't see it for so long even after losing all the weight we need to due to excess skin. I was kind of aware from the OSSG lists and my own horror at viewing some after pictures. That and in clothes, even though I would wear a 6 in pants I had to buy bigger just because of how the mons appeared. The mons is definietly something that has to be addressed in any pre plastic surgery consultation for anyone that was ever morbidly obese. Some are worse than others and what is not an issue for one person may be a bigger issue for another. I know for me, personally, if my midriff and abdomen were going to be flat that I didn't want my mons sticking out beyond my hip bones and thighs. In the surgery to fix my mons seroma, my plastic surgeon reduced me further (skin only no lipo) . . . he did a great job, I only wish he could now shave the pubic symphysis (the bones that come together there). Geez, it is so funny how once health is not the issue anymore. That we focus on such silly things that we would have (and did) knowingly traded morbid obesity for, but how nice to be able to be so silly! Heck, I didn't even see my c-section scar until right before my abdomnioplasty as it was good and well healed and well hidden in the now non-exsistent crease! If anyone has had a TT of any kind, if its been less than a year, it may well be worth your time to see your plastic surgeon and request an in office revision that may possibly cost you nothing! Be well. ) Vicki > > >Okay, call me stupid, but what is a " thigh lift " ? Guest guest
Yes theis is the exact area and yes it does swell after surgery, but when that is over if it is still oversized it can be fixed in the office under local anesthesia. Since I formed the seroma there, mine was fixed in the pout patient surgery center under general anesthesia. I had a second seroma on the upper abdomen that needed to be done at the same time. The results were well worth the extra recovery. ) Vicki In a message dated 12/16/2002 6:30:53 AM Pacific Standard Time, nanpug@... writes: > OK......I am beginnning to think that the " mons " is the area at the top of > the pubic area. Guest guest
OK......I am beginnning to think that the " mons " is the area at the top of the pubic area. If this is so, then I am also unhappy with mine. I had my surgery in July of this year (02.) He did take some out.....but to me it either wasn't enough, or that is the area that still " swells " most of the time!! Is this what you are saying can be " fixed " in the office?? I went to a different " surgeon " about the thighs and really didn't want to go back to the tt doctor.......but I guess I should! P. Guest guest
Thanks Vicki........I think that mine is still too big.....I know that he did do some lipo on it.......but it must not have been enough! I go back in January......hopefully he will agree to do something in the office about it. It isn't horrible in clothes...but it bothers me..it is a section about 2-3 " by 2-3 " ....it is swollen enough that it distorts the pubic hairs and makes it look like I kinda have a bald spot.......the hubby laughes at me and tells me to get over it......but like you said.....I spent so many years not even being able to SEE that area........that darn it....I want it to look good!!! Thanks again, P Re: Re: Thigh Lift - mons Yes theis is the exact area and yes it does swell after surgery, but when that is over if it is still oversized it can be fixed in the office under local anesthesia.
