Guest guest
A silly question, but has anyone else LOST their appetite - or is this the result of something else and not possibly related to MSA? Anne
Guest guest
Anne, A documented symptom of MSA is " gastric fullness " due to slowed peristalsis. The whole digestive system is regulated by the autonomic nervous system, so as the autonomic nervous system fails to work up to par, any system it regulates can be affected. It follows that if your stomach remains full your appetite is suppressed. Of course there could be other reasons, but lack of appetite can certainly be an MSA related issue. Guest guest
Anne, That often happens because you get tired of chewing and swallowing. You must work on keeping your speech/swallowing muscles in good shape through exercise. That may also mean that you are now swallowing enough liquids which can lead to many UTI's and any infection can severely harm a MSA patient. You should be swallowing 64 ounces of liquid per day (not including caffine drinks). Guest guest
has totally gone the other way and could eat for England, but he is losing weight. He was always a sensible eater, now he will eat all the chocolate, crisps, sweets and puddings he can get his hands on. Appetite A silly question, but has anyone else LOST their appetite - or is this the result of something else and not possibly related to MSA?
