Guest guest
Lucy, R. hear. Good questions. Lucy here, do you find that Conjunctivitis goes along with RP also? There are two types on conjunctivitis- infectious and non-infectious. Non-infectious conjunctivitis IS associated with RP and should be treated by an ophthalmologist who understands autoimmune disorders. My eyes (lids, top and bottom) were red, swollen, hot, just like the flares in my ears almost, and my whole face was swollen, especially on the sides. This can be RP related also. But not always. There are several different factors that can go with this. 1) as you mentioned it can be a allergic reaction to benadryl 2) The beginning phases of ocular involvement either from RP or a different form of eye problems. 3) could be nerve inflammation RP can affect any of the 12 pairs of cranial nerves, but most frequently cranial nerves 3, 4, 5, 7 ,11. Noting that 3,4,7 relate directly with the eyes and facial muscles. When these become inflamed they can resemble a " flare " with heat, swelling and pain. Regardless of the under laying cause, please do not what. Please see an ophthalmologist right away. The longer you wait on this subject the more you risk your eyesight. R.
