I totally agree....I laughed when a PA told me they don't call it " Practicing

Medicine " for nothing. We are not all the same. Different meds and over the

counter seem to work for some and not others. Our disease would be much

better if there was a regument. Well, there isn't. I'm now waiting for a call

back from doctor on blood tests and urinalysis that was done on

Wednesday....Love Ya ALL.....Sue

I agree with you 100%, I think most of us wait to long before we see our

doctors. I never consider my health questions as being a pain to my doctors. It

is why I have hired them. Their job is to help me. If they can't, or won't, then

it is time to find a doctor that will. Unless the proper testing is done, the

average RP patient is not going to know if the sore throat is just that, a sore

throat or the beginning of inflammation involvement from RP. Nor will the

doctor. They need to see us when we are sick.

It is highly frustrating to drag yourself into a doctors office to hear, " well,

I don't know what is wrong with you " . When the answer should be, we need to send

you to a specialist, testing and have this looked further into. But the doctors

can not make that referral if they don't get a chance to see the problem while

it is happening.

One thing I would like to bring out to everyone with RP is that the DX criteria

for RP is a HISTORY of having inflammation in certain key areas, such as the

ears, nose, eyes and throat (among other locations). If your are still having

problems with " flares " and re-occurring inflammation then your doctors do not

have your health under control and they need to work more on getting it there.

RP is controllable. But we have to help the doctors to get there. And the very

first step is getting to the doctors when you are having a problem.

In the world of medicine and science if they don't see a problem, then there

most likely is not a problems.

One of the questions we should all ask each of our doctors is when do you want

me to call?

R.

I'm just worried that some are waiting too long and figure

it will just go away or is just a sore throat etc. I want to urge members

to seek medical attention and who cares if they think we are a pain.....!!!

Better safe than sorry and besides, we Pay them to work for us...

Thanks again for making my point more clear.

hugs

C

Hi- Pete's doc, although has given me parameters re: giving boost dose of

pred...told me when in doubt as to whether or not to call .........CALL>>>>>>

..he said he would rather have me call with a false alarm than not to call

when it's important..he has never made me feel like a phone call was a pain

in the neck...we are very lucky to have him...But also I figure if a doc

isn't willing to take a call he's not worth having!!!! Janet
