Guest guest
I got my results back and there's good news and weird news. Diabetes is fine...5.5 and they reevaluate if over 7%. Urine sample (kidney pain) is also fine. As usual have high antinuclear ana. Above 1:320 is significant..mine is 1:60. Other tests showed SLE, mixed connective tissue disease, chronic active hepatitis, the others all point to what we already know. He wants to do a hepatitis blood screen so I guess that's next. Does anybody know what GOT (AST) is? Normal is 9-44 mine is 72. Today is another day...have a good one...Sue

It is a test usually for liver function. Rich's came back extremly high an they did an MRI. His liver was fine... The test was elevated because of the cholesteral medication he was on. Medications, even tylenol can raise a liver function test. Glad that most of the tests came back normal and sooo glad that you have a good dr to follow up on the other things. I'll keep you in my thoughts. hugs
Guest guest
Dear , boy you sure made my day...I needed something postive as far as the tests. My doctor has been sort of experimenting. They called today and wanted me in tomorrow morning for more blood work. I said " no " took the last Levaquin today and to me that seems to be the culprit. So I'll wait till the first of next week after that has worked itself out of my system. I agree all the meds seem to mess up the body. Believe it or not I felt better on Pred...scary thought. Love as usual, Sue

Better to get a reading that is right the first time..then to worry and try to treat something that wasn't wrong to begin with. I don't think that made much sense , did it?? Hope you know what I mean... I know when Rich's levels came back so high we worried ourself sick...The dr. immediately scheduled an MRI...Scared us to death... Only to find out later it was his medication...Geez.... Be sure to let me know how things turn out. hugs

I understant that this is normal for coming off pred. At the same time i think the pred hides other things that might be wrong with us. So we don't know until we are off.. I think I had better go cook some dinner, I'm not making too much sense in my posts..LOL Been a long day.
Guest guest
Dear , maybe after all these years with RP and the other stuff I'm finally wiseing up in my old age. When we do get something wrong I think we have a tendency to over react because we don't want to flare. Maybe sometimes we just need common sense, which can be one of my short comings. Heck I paniced when my ANA was so high. Now I don't even think about it. So I'll go back next week have the blood test done then and so be it. Thanks Sue
Guest guest
Dear , yea taking Pred is like being between a rock and a hard place. How much are you on now? I hurt a bit more being off of it but I can't decide what I'm going to do about it. Doctor wants to prescribe pain meds but I'm not sure if I want to go their either. You make more sense than a lot of people I know....including myself....Sue

At first one of them was 2 1/2 times normal. My PCP freaked! He changed my cholesterol medicine and they are slowly coming back down. Not normal yet, but they are much better. Next blood test is Tuesday, so we'll see how that one goes. Hang in there, Sharon ===== __________________________________________________

My docs keep wanting to prescribe pain meds too and I also refuse. I do take Ultram when needed, but I feel no ill effects from it and it takes the edge off, only problem is it does hurt my stomach if I take too much or too many days in a row.. Don't know how much sense I make... This old brain is having a flare I think. LOL Hope you had a good day...I didn't. LOL Just kidding. I also think that deep down we don't want to hear that we have something else on top of RP... Who needs any more of this c--- and more meds. I just want to get well...!!! (I think I'm doing it, at least for the moment and I am truly cherishing the moment.) LOL I'm not out running marathons, but I'm a far cry better than a month ago.. Don't you just hate worrying and over reacting... I do it all the time and don't know how to stop. I can seem calm on the outside but boy my insides are a mess. LOL Hope your next tests are much better. How high was you ANA. Mine came back positive, 140 and speckled. Whatever that means...LOL On my results it says " Speckled Pattern significance: Higher titers are suggestive of Lupus, mixed Connective Tissue Disease, scleroderma, Sjogren's. Low titers may be seen in RA, polymyositis, dermatomyositis, autoimmune liver idsease, ulceative colitis. This report came from University. Let us know what your next test shows... You will be in my thoughts hugs
Guest guest
Dear , I do have Ultram but havn't taken it. Maybe I will. I'm a firm believer in Zantac taken 1/2 hour before Pred or any meds that upset the stomach. It sure works for me. Take care....Sue
Guest guest
Dear , My ANA is 160. pretty much says the same as yours except for the chronic active hapatitis, we're checking on that one. Also mentions Sjogrens, Raynaud's or Sclerosis. You have a great day...Sue
Guest guest
Thanks Glenda, I'm always so leary about meds, especially pain ones. I will try it though. I do have the prescription so why not??? Sue

(and I don't know how true this is, I just believed them) that Zantac, Pepcid, Axid, etc those in that class, should be taken a min of 2 hours before any other meds. That the what ever they do to the stomach acid, it wont let the other meds into your system properly. I will do some more checking and see... One dr was a gastrointerologist and the other was a PCP. If it has been working for you...hey I'd stick with it. I know I have to wait after I take Previcid too.
Guest guest
Sue, Ultram is what I use for pain. It works so well for me. I have taken it for several years now but only when I need to. Usually I can't take a pain med long. This one is pretty good. Works fast! Like I say I don't take it unless I have to. Hope it works for you! Lots of Love Glenda Re: Test Results Dear , I do have Ultram but havn't taken it. Maybe I will. I'm a firm believer in Zantac taken 1/2 hour before Pred or any meds that upset the stomach. Maybe someone else can direct you. There are some controversies about this med but I have had good luck with it! No pain is all care about when I get to hurting!LOL Take care and have a good day! Guest guest
Thank you , I will check on that...even if its two hours that's fine as long as the stomach isn't upset the rest of the day. I used to hate taking Pred because it messed up my system so bad but with the Zantac it didn't bother me. I sure appreciate your input....Thank you again...Sue
