Guest guest
Carol, Agree. Wonder if our group has a member who knows anyone in the ALS support community who may know the what/why/when of this change in the waiting period so that we don't have to reinvent the wheel? Jerry Medicare waiting period Jerry, I don't know the answer about the ALS exception, but I do know that this is a recent happening. I think the ALS group has recently gotten more focused and essentially lobbied congress and got this done. The 24 month waiting period has always baffled me -- if you can't work because you're too sick, how are you supposed to pay for medical care? I don't get it! This is one of those " squeaky wheel gets the grease " things, and I personally think we need to make some more noise. Anybody up for some lobbying activity? Moeller, isn't this up your alley? I think if we put some effort into this we could get it done. Carol & Rob (who thinks Carol is at it again!) This is an historic victory for the ALS community More info at the link above, Pam
Guest guest
Jerry, I don't know anybody, but I would certainly be willing to send off an email or call them and ask. I find that most groups like this are willing to share information on how they get things like this done. Also, every politician knows that when you set a precedent like they did with ALS others are bound to follow. Guest guest
Pam, that's like getting a compliment on a dress you bought at a yard sale -- just accept the compliment and fail to mention to it came from a yard sale. No one will be the wiser! :-) Jerry RE: Medicare waiting period Pam -- you ARE amazing.
