Guest guest
OOOOOOOOk, I have a huge question pretty much for those who are eating the sweets and drinking the diet soda's. First let me say I was a huge diet coke fan, i would drink 2 maybe 3 2-liters a day. Sweets well I am what I ate as the saying goes. BUT here is the question, I am 17 months out and have not picked up a sweet, nor a soda. I guess I'm confused as to why would one do this if you are able to go back to the old ways of eating? I am just wondering not condemning anyone or judging so please don't take it that way. FOR MYSELF~ I guess I figure if I wanted to still eat those things I would have stayed the way I was. I wanted the change and new that things were going to have to go. Now yes I need to jump start again but I realize that its a matter of exercising and lowering the carbs. But I am seeing a lot of people talking about this sweet and that sweet and I guess it just baffles me. Again I hope no one takes offense cause that's not what I'm meaning it to be. Happy Holidays! Guest guest
Theresa, For me, and I am not saying it is right, but occasionally I drink a diet coke or have a cookie as a treat. I realize it is a real hard habit to break and really have to keep it out of the house. I notice with my depression I am wanting it all of the time but if I have to work for it, it some how looses its appeal. I drink a diet coke about once a week if that often. Recently I have been eating sugar a couple of times a week. However, compared to what I did before, this is nothing. I am one of those that use to get the big bag of double stuff oreos and a big glass of milk and eat the entire bag of oreos in one sitting. I could eat an entire pie in two sittings especially if it was cherry or pecan. I in no way can do that now nor do I want to. I have this inside barometer that tells me when to stop eating, something I didn't have before. There is also a real strange mentalilty thing for me in that every diet I was ever on before I felt deprived. I really consider my wls more of a live it program. So why should I feel deprived? Guest guest
Theresa, I rarely do diet soda because it feels weird in my pouch. However, I do eat what I want, when I want, in moderation. Why? Because diets never worked for me before. I dieted myself to 480 lbs. I want to approach food like a normal person and that means not obsessing about my food nor eliminating complete food groups from my diet. I read the book " The Seven Secrets of Slim People " . Initially, I was put-off by the title, wondering what some skinny chick could tell me about normal eating. I put aside my preconceived notions and read the book with an open mind. Thankfully, because I gained a lot of insight and I can finally say that I approach my food like a " normal " person does. Does that mean I always make the best choices? Absolutely not! But, I don't obsess about it. ly, I don't care. I am at 197 lbs, down from 480 lbs at my highest (459 on the day of surgery which was September 27, 2000). I went on Atkins induction once or twice for 7 days during the past 2 years, so that I could jump-start my weight loss again. Aside from that, I've been able to eat as I please (IN MODERATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!). That's all I ever wanted! Hope this answers your question! Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your insight on why one would drink soda or eat the sweets. I guess for me logically it would just be easier for me not to eat or drink those things cause those are just a few things that put me in that position to begin with. I don't feel deprived, or lost without them. Really its almost a joke at this point cause at work all the sweets coming in and sure they look good but its like hmmmmmmm there is five lbs on her hips, and two lbs on her thighs and I'm smiling to be the batchee. I even tell them that too at times. But I understand. Thanks Again! :0) And congrats on everyones wonderful weightloss! Happy Holidays! Guest guest
I hit this wall a while back...and it WAS scary. All of a sudden, I found I was HUNGRY, and could gain weight once again! I, fortunately, caught it at only a 6 lb gain...and took remedial steps. There's no way I'm going back there! Not if I can help it!
