Guest guest
Hi Betty, There is a risk at anything you do. There is a risk to every medical procedure. But the risk is very small and the benefits of this surgery far out weight the risk. The surgery has saved my life. I was a bigger risk for this surgery because of my age and medical condition. I am 59 years old and weighed almost 400 lb., I am in a wheelchair, I have heart problems, an aortic aneurysm, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic bronical asthma, very bad spinal stenosis and spinal deterioration, and I WAS a diabetic, and I HAD High blood pressure that was going to cause the aneurysm to rupture. I know longer have diabetes or high blood pressure. I am even able to get around some in the house now without my wheelchair. I was doomed without the surgery and now I have hope for a better life and more time with my family. I made the choice to take the chance and I went through it all with no problems. I have not been sick at all. Even though I weighed almost 400# I was still able to have a LAP. I was only in the hospital 2 days and as of this day I have lost 95 pounds. A. B. Guest guest
Dr. Overcash? Is that really his name? LOL The surgery was VERY worth it for me. I have been on this and that diet for the last 20 years and failed on every one of them. Atkins was great, I lost 100 pounds in a year but when you go off of it you gain the weight back just as quickly. My blood pressure went up in February, I was over 300 pounds and I was put on medicine. That was when I asked for the referral for WLS and I have not regretted it since. I have more energy and everyone at work comments on how much weight I am losing. However, aside from being overweight and having hi blood pressure, I was pretty healthy. I don't smoke and rarely drink so I had no complications from my LAP surgery. My family has been and is very supportive, Hubby can't wait to take me shopping for new clothes! Just my 2 cents Sharon RNY LAP 07-17-03 Hey everyone Hey everyone, Im new here and have my consulatation visit with Dr overcash on Friday at 3:30 and i am very nervous. Guest guest
I occaisonally throw up, but this is only when I over eat. I'm not even 6 mo post op yet, so I am still learning. Went to a BBQ on Halloween and just ate a little too much. It rarely happens anymore. As for the dumping syndrom, I did get alittle after Halloween, (too many goodies again! *SIGH*) But not the diahrra that usually comes with it. So far I know where my limits lie there. Guest guest
Hi , Sorry to hear that you are so sad and depressed. I know that we can all understand how you feel on some level. Try reading back through some of the old posts. Some of the stuff is scary I agree. But you have to think of the future and how good it will be to get your problem corrected. BTW--if you don't get a response sometimes from this site, just post it again, maybe with a different 'subject title'. Good Luck, let us know when you are having your surgery. a > Hya I'm 15 years old and I have a severe malocclusion. I know that > soon I'm going to have to get orthognathic surgery.
