Dear All- As alot of you know I am an RN, my specialty for the last 14 years

has been Addiction Nursing. I am very well versed in this area professionally

and personally. If anyone has any questions I would gladly answer them and if

I do not know the answer I can find it for you. One thing I would like to

make perfectly clear I do not now nor have I ever believed that anyone should

have to endure pain if there is a treatment available for it. Pain

medications including narcotics can be safe if taken in a responsible way and

under the care of a knowledable physician(bear in my mind that like anything

else many physicians don't have a clue about pain and or pain medication.)

Love ya all Janet

Dear Janet, wasn't there just a law passed that doctors must prescribe

medications for pain and not let any patients suffer. I was always concerned

for cancer patients who weren't given enough, especially morphine because

they would become addicted. Who cares if they become addicted...Just my 2

cents...Love Sue

Janet, thanks for your input on addiction. I feel the same way. If you and

your dr are responsible, then there should be made every effort to control

the pain. My mom was in pain for years... She had a dr that didn't believe

in pain.. so she suffered.. Then she found one who believed in pain control

( a little TOO much and gave her everything, almost with the attitude that

she could end her life if she took enough) Well she did take an accidental

overdose. Finally we got her to the right dr. and they controled her pain

and she lead an active life with the years she had left. Yes, she was

addicted, but didn't abuse the drugs and had a wonderful active life til the

end.

If I have any questions, I'll know where to come. Thanks for all your posts.

hugs

Janet,

I was diagnosed last week with RP. He has me on 5 mg

prednisone and .6 mg colchicine (twice a day). Please

educate me on what the Colchicine is for. I was a

little in shock last week and didn't ask the questions

I needed to. One of these medications is causing

stomach cramps - not severe - and I am not sure which

one. I intend to call my doctor today to get his

advice. I have experienced a few symptoms that I have

not heard other have. One - I had four knots on my

head and then severe burning around the hairline which

peeled afterwards. Two - one two occasions I have had

whelps go from the hairline at the front of my ears

(both at the same time) continuing down to my jaw

area. These are approximately 1/2 " wide and 1/2 "

high. Has anyone else experienced this. On all of

these occasions I experienced severe headaches.
