Guest guest
Donna, It sounds like you have nothing to worry about. You are a perfect candidate for surgery. You are so lucky to already have ins approval. Please write me back with the name of your ins and about how easy your approval was. This will help me. As my surgery was Jan 10, 2000 and I was 242 lbs and 5 ft 1 in tall. Now I am 152 lbs. I am 56 years old and was also a high risk patient with many health issues and Dr R did not hesitate to take me even as a self pay. We now have a lawyer that is sueing the ins company and we are just waiting for a court date. I need as many letters as I can get of patients that have gotten insurance approval for surgery. Then my lawyer can present these to the judge and the jury as evidence. I need all the help I can get. We all do!! My blood pressure was sky high when we arrived in Durham and I had severe sleep apnea, acid reflux, very sore joints, depression, you name it, Ihad it!!! Now I am doing great. I wish you the very best so start sleeping at night and be at peace. You are going to the best surgeon in the country. September will be perfect. in Missouri
Guest guest
Hey everyone- I guess I just have a few questions. Two months ago, my ortho started putting a surgical gap inbetween my two front teeth. I have another appointment with him next Saturday, and after that, he said he would pull them apart a little more and then I could schedule a consultation with my OS. My question is, once the widening is done, what kind of a timeline am I looking at?? Is it still feasable to get surgery this summer? I really don't want to wait any longer...so what all do I have to do before i can be prepared for surgery? My second question is about a soft diet. My physical therapist just ordered me on a completely soft diet, because my joints are starting to swell up after I eat anything!! After two days on this diet, I am ready to throw in the towel. I just don't have the will power. How did everyone cope with eating only soft food, and what are some good things to consider consuming? Thanks for the help!! PS. I feel like I am whining and complaining, but I do want you all to know I had a great week. I got engaged on Wednesday, so that has helped " ease " the pain a little
Guest guest
Great congratulations to your fellow, and much happiness to you both! That's the most important decision you're making this week, for sure! Now, about the surgery... It will happen, if you choose to have it do so, when your mouth is ready. Your doctors can give you the best notions about timelines, and really, what you want or what someone else's experience has been won't have anything at all to do with it. Sorry. You aren't whining, and you aren't complaining -- at least no more than you're entitled. Everybody here is, by virtue of joining (I think, anyhow!) entitled to whine, complain, bitch and whatever else... We're all supposed to be good and sympathetic listeners. As for the soft diet -- well, no, it's not any fun, I'm sure. I know one member who's been on a soft and liquid diet for more than two years (with two tiny children, and a busy medical practice, no less, and several surgeries in the interim). It might make it easier if you can find wonderful soft things to eat. Shrimp mousse. Crabmeat soup. Chocolate mousse! Lemon meringue pie! Tomato bisque. Green pea soup. Crackers (oyster crackers if you like them) soaked in soup. Broth. Scrambled eggs. Poached eggs. Real smashed potatoes. Dare I say Grits??? Cheese Grits? Oatmeal? Meatloaf? Pasta? Be adventurous. I'd bet you never met an avocado you couldn't mush... Corned beef hash. Spaghetti... Cannelloni... None of that takes a lot of chewing. Good luck. Whine away. Whining is allowed here, as is b*****ng. (see some of my earlier posts... Cammie > Hey everyone- I guess I just have a few questions. Two months ago, my ortho > started putting a surgical gap inbetween my two front teeth.
