Things to have at home after surgery ;

This is a quick list of things you definitely should consider in

order to be comfortable at home after surgery. There are more ideas

for food in the recipes section.

1. Never ever go anywhere without a pair of scissors to cut the wires

with, or nail clippers.

2. Have a code for phone calls if you are in trouble and need help -

ie: if I call you and ring this bell into the phone, come home quick.

If I call and bang a pot with a wooden spoon, call 911. Also if you

call 911 and stay on the phone, they can trace your call and send you

help.

3. Ice packs/heat packs(Editor's note: Zip-n-Squeeze sells excellent

cool gel jaw wraps that can be used for this purpose)

4. A blender. I know this is obvious.

5. Lots of pillows. It can be hard to get comfortable, and the

pillows help.

6. A variety of liquid supplement meals, especially if you are on

your own. Don't buy a lot at first though because the mouthwash used

after surgery changes the taste of thing, and you may find you are

only able to tolerate certain things but not others. I find that

Ensure tastes best.

7. Soups like cream of tomato that don't need prep work. Or soups

that can be easily blended. Barley soups can be an issue if your

blender isn't really strong.

8. Ice cream or sherbet. Freezing some bananas works great too. It

makes shakes thicker like ice cream without the fat.

9. A tray of frozen milk cubes is also handy for making drinks.

10. A big jug of milk. Chances are you may need the extra fat content

that whole milk provides. It's your choice though.

11. Drinks made with jello feel really nice on the throat, and can be

soothing.

P.S.: You can find this and other such on Miz 's Geocities

Site...

Not real hard to locate, either, and well worth checking out...
