Guest guest
I was reading some previous posts earlier, and there were afew about not wanting any students to do any work involved in the surgery or whatever. well i would jsut like to say that, I have had a student (may have been postgraduate) who was my orthodontist for the first 2 years (till he left, i guess that his course ended), and he was great. and now I have a orthodontist, who must have been doing it for years, and i say, i want my other orthodontist back. Ok so he may not have been doing orthodontics for very long, but he was funny, ans he didnt remember the name of all the appliances he was using, and didnt know exact terms for things. I have another recent graduate treating me at the moment as well for stuff to do with my retainer (she took impressions) and she was also great. so I dont see the problems with students, as they are likely to be more cautious of what they are doing, and wel, i prefer them as they are nearer my age, since i am 17. Sorry if that went on a bit, but i jsut wanted to give my opinion.
Guest guest
You're not going on and on, and it's a worthy opinion. I have known more than one person who has had ortho and surgery, and indeed, general dentistry, quite successfully at dental schools. Sometimes the economies have made help available that would not otherwise have been possible. That's not to say it's for everybody, but hey, it can be excellent, as yours apparently was. Congratulations! In this country, anyhow, the procedures can be cost-prohibitive for many, especially when insurance companies are difficult. Mine wasn't, and was most helpful. But I have heard many, painful, awful stories about others' experiences.
