Guest guest
Hi All Will ALL those suffering lack of appetite, PlEASE, PLEASE get a gastric emptying test done! This is essential if you cannot eat what you should be, or used to. This kind of fullness I have seen written about is not normal. Gastroparesis is not an uncommon symptom. I got this myself, and before this test was done I nearly starved to death!! I lost all appetite in the end, and felt so full after the tiniest amount could eat no more. With neuro disease this can happen because simply brain messages dont get to the stomach to tell it to work, so it becomes paralysed. I lost weight to dangerous levels and was given days or perhaps if lucky a few weeks to live. I had lost all fat and my body was stealing from my muscles to fuel the body which is very weakening. In my case it should have been seen to earlier but had a gastro when mine was away that DID NOT do this test. As soon as my own gastro came back to Aussie it was the first test he did. Two weeks later I had a gastric pace maker, and then and since could eat normally. It saved my life and I have put on weight and regained a lot more strength now. Ice cream wont cut it!!!!!! You cannot live on that! The reason you can manage that is because it is liquid. So I am pleading that you at least have this confirmed or ruled out!! Dont wait as I had no choice but to do because I didn't know what was wrong, until you could be in deep trouble. Frequent small meals help yes, but if you have gastroparesis it will not eventually be enough as the stomach slows down to maintain weight. I was drinking Sustegan but eventually could not even take enough of that to help. With gastroparesis food stays in the stomach for a long time. It is like trying to put food in a still full stomach. IT DOESN'T WORK!! I am sorry if this sounds a bit heavy but I have good reason to want you to be tested so you don't get as I was. It was horrible and so easily fixed Love from Aussie Anne still batling flu. > Dodie, > > The best solution, which I forgot to mention, is frequent small meals. Guest guest
I've added Anne's great note to our bookmarks section under " Symptoms " " Stomach & Digestive Problems " . I'll also find the link for the gastric pacemaker she had installed. Hugs, Pam > > Dodie, > > > > The best solution, which I forgot to mention, is frequent small > meals.
