Guest guest
Hey all. I'm 4 days post op and just now feeling up to posting. I've had a pretty rough 3 days....but things are much better now. I was just wondering if anyone else had any problems with foods tasting different after surgery.......for example.....I used to love slim fast...but now it tastes funny. I still drink it, but it just has a different taste. Ronda
Guest guest
Hi Ronda Its early days yet - I too found my taste buds seemed to have gone on strike. I'm a big tea drinker and couldn't face a cup for at least a week. Your taste will come back. YOu may also find, as have others in this group, that you'll become extremely sensitive to salt. I found even sweet things tasted salty. Best wishes Sue (UK)
Guest guest
I had this in an opposite sort of way. Everything tasted GOOD. My nurse even remarked on it, " If you think that tastes good, I won't tell you otherwise. " I loved almost everything that went into my mouth for weeks. However, I could not taste salt for well over a month. I kept salting my food and salting my food, and wondering why the potatoes were bland, until I figured it out. That did come back however - and so did my normal food preferences where things actually taste bad. Not so sure that's a good thing. : ) Kris > Hey all. Guest guest
As you see, it can happen. That's one reason I sort of advise against really stocking up on any one flavor of any one product. Get enough to keep you going until you or an agent can get in for a resupply of something, but you don't want many cases of something you all of a sudden detest to drink! I think it usually changes back.. Best, Cammie > Hey all. I'm 4 days post op and just now feeling up to posting. I've > had a pretty rough 3 days....but things are much better now.
