Guest guest
Dear Marilyn, that's a very good question. Because this disease is usually associated with women I imagine dealing with a man would be different. My doctor said flares can be associated with hormones too. Interesting! Very interesting. hugs

(don't get any) LOL Even my c pap machine isn't helping. I am having the terrible leg pain and calf pain & joint pain now. I am trying to decrease my pred. Carmela says she still has it after coming off pred. Does anyone know how long this lasts? Yes Chuck, sure does beat the RP, so i won't complain. How are you doing otherwise? Hope you have a great day. C
Guest guest
I did this once, but it hasn't shown up on the list so must have lost it into cyber space. Is the treatment by doctors for men with RP the same as it is for women? By that I mean do they prescribe metho, imuran? Are their symptoms the same. I assume they get the ear and nose flares, but do they also get the red, swollen joints, the vasculitis and other symptoms that I've seen on the list. Hope this isn't a stupid question, I am just curious about it. Marilyn

Marilyn Marilyn I can assure you that we are the same. ears mostly for me but i am only on pred. for the flare-ups. don't take this as a joke but as soon as i started charting the flare-ups i noticed a cycle of about once a month, and i think woman find that amusing,(me too sort of) but not when the pain hits. hope this answer's your question. Marilyn marilyn, also i have to deal with the sleep problems of not getting any, the leg pain espically in the calf muscles and the joint pain mostly after i have taken the pred. and i am tapering off it. it's a strange course of events but still beats the pain of RP hands down!! Guest guest
Chuck, When I first began to have the attacks of RP they would come on about once a month. Now they are more frequent. At one time I even associated it with a full moon. Doesn't make any sense, but that's about when they would happen. Laugh if you want. But that's the way it was for me. Now it's more like a full moon and a new moon. You all probably think I'm a hysterical female, but that's OK. In many ways this disease has made me a complete nut case.
