Guest guest
You all are probally asking why I would want to know that? Well the answer is I know I am eating too much because of the fistula but I want to know what is a normal amount for those that are 3+ years out. I am frustrated that I have to eat so much because I don't stay full. I also have to eat all the time because I get early and late dumping which is hypoglycemia. I wish I would stay full longer and not get so many reactions. The reason why I don't stay full is that because of the fistula the food has two ways to empty. I am hoping I can make it until March when I plan on having the fistula repaired. I am so afraid of I am going to weigh 200lbs after the New Year. I am having a consult with my surgeon and we will set a date and discuss the details. The surgery is going to be nothing like I have experienced before and it is not a revision. Actually I am scared because I am allergic to so many pain meds and all my other surgeries were done lap except the spleenectomy which involved an incision from my navel down. This time I am going to be cut from sternum to navel talk about a huge scar. I have a huge tollerance to pain but I am still a little scared I had no choice regarding the spleenectomy but this I do. I really would like to know what is a normal amount for us my surgeon says I should only be able to eat half a sandwhich or a small burger without the bun and nothing else. I can eat a whole sandwhich and a few chips or fries or raw veggies. I don't want to eat that much. I was told as soon as I have the surgery then I will loose the 35lbs I gained back and maybe some more. I can't wait for that reason I have had to buy larger pants because my jeans don't fit. I am one of the lucky ones cause I still look good no one can really tell I have gained weight must me my height that helps. I know though and I gained it only in my hips thighs and butt. I wish I could've gained it in my breasts no such luck. Oh well still curious as to what you all are eating and how much. When I do have a hypoglycemic episode I have to reach for the sugar and not the protein. That's just not right. Protein shakes don't even curb the cravings are keep me balanced. I'll let you all know what I find out from my consultation after the New Year. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Kristy
Guest guest
I am at the two and a half year mark and all I can eat is about half a sandwich. It is a real bummer! At 6'2 " , I need 2000 calories a day just to maintain my weight. I have to eat 6 meals a day to get that much food in. Guest guest
How much we CAN eat and how much food we SHOULD eat to satisfy physical hunger are two different things. I CAN and am physically able to eat much more than I SHOULD and am able to. Pre-op I used to eat until I was feeling full and often times until I was stuffed and couldn't eat another bite. I lived for that " full " feeling as it meant satisfaction to me. Post op nothing much changed except how much food it took to feel that way. That is hoe I behaved until I stopped losing weight at 3-4 months post op, I wasn't losing very fast before that either . . . I have to run . . . going to the party I was dreading . .. will finish up my thoughts later tonight or tomorrow morning. Hang in there nothing is hopeless! )Vicki > You all are probally asking why I would want to know that? Guest guest
I think you were smart to long in and get in a good, healthy frame of mind before you went to the party. Don't think I didn't notice. Vicki A. > > You all are probally asking why I would want to know that?
