It was, I found, very convenient to carry a small pouch containing

things that help endure with braces...

Proxabrushes of the travel sort -- little bitty intradental brushes

which can go anywhere and be used discreetly in bathrooms. They're

made by , Oral-B, and maybe others.

Travel toothbrush. Hand mirror, for just in case, so you won't have

to rely on a fibbing hubby. Tiny tube of toothpaste. Tiny plastic

bottle of mouthwash. Glide floss threaders (or others, if you

prefer). Wax, or silicone, in case the braces start bruising you.

Extra elastics, when you reach that point. Some folks have even found

portable waterpics and battery-powered flossing gadgets.

Many cosmetic firms make little tote bags that would work for

anybody, whatever gender. These also make nice presents for friends,

adult or child-size, who are about to embark on ortho treatment.
