Guest guest
Hi : Fred wanted me to ask if anyone has tried Chinese Meds for there MSA? Someone has been talking to him about this. I also want to know, I don't feel this is going to help, but told him I'd ask. Right now his looking for that needle in the haystack . I know from the MSA listing that there is one person listed in China. If your reading this posting , I'd like to hear from you and see what if any chinese meds have helped you? Guest guest
Vera, Rob has tried acupuncture (without much change) but not Chinese medicines, which are generally herbs. I would be very careful about using herbs because you can't tell about purity and some of the herbs might interact with the prescriptions. Remember, just because it's natural doesn't mean it's good for you. Hemlock is a poison, and I for one have one heck of a reaction to that "all natural" plant knows as poison ivy. Guest guest
Vera, NIH has tested many different " natural " supplements and most have shown no promise. There is currently a study going on with the Co Q10 on PD which may help, but I have seen nothing promising yet. Our biggest current hope other than stem cell research (which will be banned totally in the USA if the Brownback Bill goes through)seems to be the growth factor hormone injected directly into the brain (UK studies). While it is not a cure, it may slow the progression. Remember that most supplements can not cross the blood/brain barrier and get into the brain where it is needed. Taking 400 IU of vitamin E and reasonable amounts of some of the other things like the CoQ10 will probably not hurt and MAY help somewhat. However, megadoses can hurt.
