I just had my 1st adjustment a week ago, and I know that things with

my bite are likely to get worse before they get any better, but I

still have to ask: for those of you having surgery for assymetry,

did it get worse during pre-surgery round of ortho? Mine's looking

so screwed up in only a week, I'm getting a bit nervous. I know

it's probably normal, but I don't want to look like a freak until

the surgery either :). Also, when they move your jaw from one side

to another, how do they get all your teeth (upper and lower) to line

up? I have one tooth missing on the bottom (it was taken out during

ortho treatment in childhood), and I can't stop thinking how they

are going to line up my midlines, and still get an even bite.

Thanks for letting me whine :).

Irene.

Your bite will always get worse in preparation for the surgery, and

get better right after it. In surgery, they rather rotate your jaws

side to side, as real slide movement is limited by your bone

location. Ortho finishes it.

My bite actually got better with braces. I have.. had... assymetry. I had

surgery on 5/5. My OS cut both sides and kind-of 'slide' it over then screwed

it in it's new place. I also had upper surgery because I had an open bite, too.
