Anyone had this done to cure sleep apnea. I have a small jaw so

this will bring the tongue forward. Does it work? Is it worth it?

Thanks,

, I don't know about the tongue thing. I also had sleep

apnea really bad. I had my lower jaw moved forward 9mm. 7 weeks

post op. Since surgery, I sleep much better, no snoring at all.

Every case is different. If I can be of any help, let me know. ---

I had upper and lower advancement to address sleep apnea.

I had severe sleep apnea before the surgery. I used CPAP

as I stopped breathing some 63 times an hour. According

to my OS, lower advancement is less likely to improve

sleep apnea. The upper advancement, however, has a very

high rate of success. In addition to my upper advancement,

he drilled out my nasal cavaties and straightened my

septum (which was fairly straight to begin with).

Prior to this surgery, I had two rounds of laser surgery

and one round of RF surgery on my palette. Nothing worked.

I am now 3 months post-op and am happy to report that my

CPAP machine is collecting dust. I breathe incredibly easy

now...and my nose no longer gets filled with phlegm. My

bite is pretty good, although I have some joint noise on

one side " crevets " (sp?) is what it is called. My ortho

is working on fine tuning my bite so hopefully that will

go away. It is not painful, but annoying to hear. I have

regained almost all of my feeling in my face and have just

a tiny bit of reduced feeling in my lower lip and chin

which seems to abate just a little bit each day.

Overall, I am VERY VERY happy I did this. Anyone out there

that suffers from sleep apnea I'm sure knows what I mean

when I say it is wonderful to get a good night's sleep.
