Guest guest
has been highly promoting this, so I am interested in US experience - anyone went through it postop? How? Opinions of your surgeons and personal results? And last but not least - your insurance reaction to it? Val
Guest guest
Hi Val, I did a quick search and found a lot of old posts that might help. It seems a few of us have tried this therapy post-op in the past year. These posts can be starters for searching around if you want to read more. And, I'm sure more could be found, I just did a quicky search to help out. username, city (if known) and post # ========================== Joanneb444 (London) #75767 Eptak1 #74300 unjaniyebo (Britt) #73920 hillary10010 (NY) #60918 harrison0801 (Toronto) #73933 alix #73340 spncalif #72819 (this one is about a mechanical form of MLD) r_h_marshall (Seattle) #61229, 62822, 64450, 65607 > has been highly promoting this, so I am interested in US > experience - anyone went through it postop? Guest guest
Thank you, , I appreciate it. Just called my OS office - they say I do not need anything... he recommends NO physical therapy after...bummer as my insurance covers it at 100%! But I need a referal from him. Guest guest
Hi Val, My company insurance policy stated that I needed a referral from a doc too (what about your family doc?), but I submitted it without, and they paid it. Guess I got lucky. I wouldn't call it physical therapy, though, even though it is often performed by physiotherapists trained in MLD therapy. I wonder if they even knew what it was you were talking about? > > > has been highly promoting this, so I am interested in US > > > experience - anyone went through it postop? How? Guest guest
Yes, I checked with my insurance - it is listed as a covered benefit by name under physical therapy. I have a very expensive insurance which does not require precertification or referal in most cases (MRI, for example). But doctor's referal is required to make it medically necessary - hey, this is America - this is how they play - " you may but we may not pay " . Medicine in Canada seems less restrictive. But my OS is too famous and as stated does surgery so well that nothing extra is required to heal quick and easy - so I was told by his office. Annoying. Guest guest
I paid $85 for 1 hour of MLD the night before my surgery. In my opinion it was a waste of my time & money. My insurance did not cover it.
