I was in a lot of pain pre full abdomnioplasty, because of my back

problems and not being allowed ANY meds pre op from midnight the

night before and my surgery was not until 3PM. When I was finally

assigned an anesthiesiologist (the one that was planned and I

consulted with got caught in an OR complication and could not do my

surgery). Anyhow, he (the best looking anesthesologist you have ever

seen AND our kids are in school together), gave me Versaid and I was

not relieved of stress or pain and was still crying in pain going to

the OR. He said Versaid can only take us down about 2 levels and if

we have a high tolerance it will do nothing. My tolerance was shot

due to Vicodin for 3 years! If we are drug tolerant due to chronic

pain, versaid is 'almost' a waste of time. I was so disappointed not

to be " out " or out of pain at the least already, as I was marked up

and not needed to be conscious anymore. When surgery was over I was

wide awake and we taked about the different kindergarten teachers at

our childrens school! I really don't want to see him at school

events or the grocery store!

Well, that makes a lot of sense....I have always been very drug

tolerant...unfortunately! I do have chronic pain, and am on a daily dose of

vicodin, although I've found a new fibro doc that may help, and I'll be able

to chuck this stuff out the window, because it doesn't help all that

much...just takes the edge off. But at this point, having 4 hours a day with

the edge off is better than solid hard pain all day long. Funny thing

though, I was ALWAYS drug tolerant...even before I ever took anything. Same

with alcohol. I was always able to tolerate more than the average. I always

felt I must be missing something. I rarely bother with the stuff. I guess

just some of us are genetically set up that way. ??!??
