Guest guest
Go for it Vicki. Personally, I don't care how mature and white my scar becomes, I'm going to stay with the stick on belly button ring with the flashing light that my dh bought me when we were in South Dakota this summer. I would love to have one of those jeweled ones, but have enough problems, not going to intentionally put another hole in my body right now. Let us know when you do it, then I can live vicariously through you. Turning 40 next month and would love to do something out of character for me so my friend is lending me her size 12 three piece black dress with bustier and bolero jacket. Hey Bill, maybe I'll send you a picture of that rather than the one of me in the plaid skirt with knee highs. Your choice. In the beginning I used scar guard, but only for about two weeks. Too busy with other catastrophes to remember to apply it. For the little time I used it, it may have helped things along. Guest guest
Well, this in encouraging.....I am about 5 months out. I was getting depressed at the thought of a purple belly button for life!! The purple was actually so bad cause it accentuated the " white " of the skin inside it and made it look like I had a big white worm inside.......seriously grossed EVERYONE out......myself included! Thanks for the info Regina........ P. Guest guest
My extended abdominoplasty was five months ago today, and the area around my belly button was the first to go silver, just in the last few days, and it looks great. That said, I don't that I'd have it pierced or anything else for a few months yet; my massage therapist is still working on releasing all the adhesions when I see her every two weeks and I want the majority of the scar to be silver before I even think about it. I'm probably not going to pierce it, but my boyfriend is a professional artist and he's been drawing on me with Sharpies for months, designing my eventual scar-line tattoo. This is a pleasant pastime. ;-) My brachioplasty scar has gone totally silver in my armpit but is still fairly angry-red out towards my elbow on each side, thereby proving my plastic surgeon right when he says that scars heal best and disappear fastest with continuous pressure. I'm actually wearing my brachioplasty pressure garment again, especially overnight, but as much as I can, in hopes of speeding things along a bit.
