Hi all,

I am temporarily signing off while on vacation.

I have been reading the various mails about Florinef and gaining weight. I am myself on Florinef and have ( so far) not gained weight, but didn't see in any of the mails potassium ( in danish kalium) mentioned.. But acording to my neurologist it is very important to take potassium at the same time, as one takes Florinef, since Florinef may drag the potassium out if ones body. In Denmark the drug is called Kaleorid. Not all neurologists know or remember this fact, so be sure to check it, and have a blood test taken.

Take care

How interesting about needing potassium when taking florinef. Perhaps

that's why my mother's dr. told her to be sure to use salt because she

needs the potassium. It's certainly something she's remembered amongst

all her other forgotten facts. :))

Jane,

Oops, the other email mentioned " Lite salt " which has Potassium in it. Regular

salt does NOT have potassium. However, regular table salt does have sodium

which helps Florinef work at it's best. " Lite salt " made by Morton in the USA,

does have potassium (and a slightly bitter taste).

Take care, Bill Werre

Jane:

As I understand it, the extra salt is necessary for the Florinef to

work at all, but the extra salt also uses up potassium, so you have to have

the Potassium level checked every three months and a prescription strength

supplement may be necessary. It is important that this be done after testing

because too much Potassium can be as bad as too little. You have to get it

just right and that can be done only with regular testing. or at least that

is what Ken's doctors always said.
