Dan, In new RV's I have notice that they are putting little " shower "

type hoses next to the toilet. THIS intrigues me. THEN I was watching

the travel channel and they were discussing the worlds most opulent

toilets and there was one with a toilet seat to die for! Made JUST for

RNYers! It vented out......plus had little spray/cleaning things built

into the toilet. I would LOVE to find this toilet. We have replaced ours

with toilets that sit higher then the normal household toilet (they are

ADA compliant)because of my knees, but I would replace the one in our

bathroom with that fancy one in a heart beat if I could find it!

That's probaly an American Standard toilet. I'll check my source

catalogue on-line to find the proper manufacturer and send that link.

The shower hose? Maybe the toilet doubles as a foot washer! Most

likely it deals with the small amount of water or sanitation wash

used to evacuate the bowl. If you put your foot in the bowl and it

comes out BLUE...you've got the sanitation wash instead of water; the

hose is there to finish the process.

I'll let you know what I find.

Don't know about the vented toilet seats but while living in Japan we

had a toilet seat that had a warmer (so you didn't have to sit on a

cold seat), a behind washer, and a fan to dry the just washed

behind. Haven't seen them in the U.S. yet and this was 9 years ago

so I imagine that they have also vented them by now. By the way, I'm

a very proximal and I carry a purse-size order killer with me at all

times and freely use candles and room spray at home!

Debbie~

In Japan, they had the toilet seat to die for! I want one so bad I can't

stand it...but right now, 600 bucks is not in the budget! It's called a

" washlet toiletseat " and does all kinds of things. The feature that I most

like is that it sends a stream of warm water to exactly the right spot...and

you are as clean as a whistle when you are finished. Only need a couple of

squares of TP...I think I could save a lot in that dept. right there. Has a

funny feature on it too....it makes a flushing sound but doesn't flush...for

people so modest as to fear sounds that may come from them during the

evacuation process...LOL!! Saves water, I guess...haha!! It either washes

your bottom, or gives you a fuller " shower " ...I didn't try that feature...was

afraid I wouldn't know how to turn it off....and didn't know exactly what it

would do...was a bit afraid of it...so just went for the bottom washing

feature..and that was worth the money by itself! I've been told they sell

them here in the states somewhere...but I don't know where yet. I'll let you

know if I ever find one.

Regards~

Okay...I found the website..and am shocked to find they want 12-1300 bucks

for this...and it offers a massage feature?? What's that about....sounds like

a sexual experience to me...all wrapped up in a toilet seat.

Well...ahem...we'll pass on that...but I will continue to look.

Okay..the second one looks better price wise...and they seem to have more to

offer on first look.

Alice, LOL I will never forget the first time I saw an electric toilet

seat in Japan. Was in a very nice Japanese Lady's home (her husband was

a Doctor or something) and I had to use the facilities. I nearly died

when I saw this little plug sticking out from the toilet seat. Well,

curiosity got the better of me and I asked her WHY there was an

electrical PLUG coming from the toilet seat. (I am envisioning

electrocution while peeing) She very seriously tells me that Japanese

bathrooms were NOT heated during the winter and that she didn't LIKE to

sit on a cold seat and that this was a seat warmer! I thought I had seen

it ALL at that point. LOL

I lived in Japan for three years..Kyoto. In fact, I lived in Asia

for 12 years, hence my last name, Ang. Japan has the best toilets.

Mine talked to me. Too bad it was in Japanese and I didn't

understand a word it was saying!

You know, you guys, we always think we are so advanced. But a lot of

the world washes themselves and thinks Americans are really dirty and

course because we use paper to wipe. They think it's not clean.

Hmmm..and I thought we were the be all, end all!

Another TOILET memory. GOSH where do they come from...... A Japanese

girl friend, her husband, and her Parents buy a NEW home. I had been to

visit her mother in the old family home and it was a VERY traditional

Japanese home with tetami and the toilet that was just a porcelain line

hole in the floor of the bathroom. This embarassed her mother very much

when I had to use it. It sure didn't bother me! So, I go to see this new

home. THE very first think Reiko shows me is the toilet.....with the

MODERN porcelain GOD! She was SOOOO proud! As I am looking at it....I

notice that in SEVERAL languages it has operating instruction listed

near the flush handle. I nearly LOST it. You know....we take it for

granted that EVERYONE knows how to operate a toilet, but I guess that

this is NOT true. At the time I thought it was pretty funny. The

instructions were in Japanese, English and German.
