Guest guest
As stated earlier, my ortho said that i'd need surgery to expand my upper palette and the same for the lower palette... i couldn't understand why he would not put in a palette expander... although my palette has been expanded using braces over the last year... is it possible that the ortho has expanded it as much as possible without surgery??? is there a limit to non-surgical palette expansion? i've already had lower jaw advancement and both the ortho and surgeon never mentioned surgery to expand the upper palette... i think im obsessing on this now.... Guest guest
In most cases, large non-surgical palate expanders are not effective in adults as we do not grow, and yes, they are unstable. Small changes can be made with teeth approximation only.
