Guest guest
Hey everyone~ It looks like the ball is finally rolling. I am scheduled for upper advancement and widening along with pushing my lower back around July 12th. I am starting to get very worried about this, as I am due back at college at the beginning of August. Does anyone think I will have problems with this transition, and if so, how can I make it easier? And my second question is just kind of a support one. The OS wants to make the incision for my upper along the roof of my mouth, so over the past two months, the ortho has been creating a gap inbetween my two front teeth with a spring-like device. This is very painful, and I am also very self-conscious about it. Did or has anyone else had anything like this? And how did you explain it to your family and friends who are wondering how you turned into a Letterman look-alike practically overnight? Thanks everyone! Guest guest
Get lots of rest while you can, to make your return to school easier. And you might want to consider taking less than a full load of classes. I was super tired for more than a month. Of course, I was also 56, and you may heal more quickly and be back up to snuff. As far as the gap is concerned, if anybody should be so rude as to comment about it, just tell the person that it's part of your treatment. I'm sorry it hurts, but it will not be forever. (And just think -- far as I know, Letterman is doing nothing to make his better!) Are you taking ibuprofen or whatever painkiller is your preference? Be sure to take it before you start hurting, if sometimes you don't have pain. And the general experience has been, I think, that once the ortho starts to close such gaps, they come back together pretty quickly. Good wishes to you, Cammie > Hey everyone~ > It looks like the ball is finally rolling. I am scheduled for upper > advancement and widening along with pushing my lower back around July 12th. Guest guest
I know what you mean, I am in University right now and have a 6mm gap between my two front teeth, so it is rather tough to explain. I had the cut done first, and then the expander was able to spread my maxillary (palate) apart. I'm assuming they need to do yours first because the two roots may be too close together and they don't want to risk damaging them. so your going to have quite the large gap once they start the palate expanding. I'm 23 days post-op and stopped cranking my expander last week. My ortho says the gap will close by itself but I don't see much difference. I hope he puts the power chains on soon. Anyways I'm hoping another few weeks and its closed. As for college, most of your swelling should be gone by then but you will have the space still. Sorry to hear about the pain but it does stop as soon as you get to stop expanding. ny > Hey everyone~ > It looks like the ball is finally rolling. Guest guest
I agree take a light load. I am 36 and it has been one month and i am still tired and weak. I don't think I could " run " for a full day. REST,REST, REST as much as you can. Let everyone help you. Sleep when you can. ceast36532 no_reply > wrote:Get lots of rest while you can, to make your return to school easier. And you might want to consider taking less than a full load of classes.
