Because my surgery was at 2:00 in the afternoon, they did keep me overnight, but less than 24 hours. The abdominoplasty included some extensive upper ab muscle repair. I found the abdominoplasty pain to be worse than my DS surgery, and it lasted longer. I had to take pain killers on a schedule for a week (which I have NEVER felt the need to do). The worst pain I ever felt from my breasts was just a kind of ache, like when you are pregnant or during your period - no pain at all. Guest guest
Hi All. I just had my breast reduction last wednesday. The anesthesia kicked my butt the first day, but I have done really well. Off pain meds. Moving well, and back at work at my computer full time today. No pain in my shoulders!! WOO HOO!! Now, here is my question. I think that I look pretty good, but I still have this apron I need to get rid of. I am really scared of the abdominoplasty!! I am not planning on doing anything until spring, so I am sure I will get past remembering that post op ick feeling that I just do not want to do agian. But also, I know that there is a higher incidence of blood clots/ fat embolisms with the abdominoplasty, and I am also worried about the amount of pain. I did well with my RNY, I had the 4 inch laparotomy incision open RNY and had what I concider minimal pain post op....of course I still had the morphine pump, and that really helped I am sure!! So, can you all tell me about the amount of pain that you were in with the abdominoplasty vs the breast reduction. Also, did you stay overnight for the abdominoplasty? Sorry, I'm sure you have discussed this before, and I do not want to beat a dead horse, but I thought I would ask. Thanks for the infomration. Guest guest
Everyone's pain level with all the various surgeical procedures seems to vary greatly . . .All we can really do is share our personal experience if we have had all 3 procedures separately . . . The first surgery I ever had was a breast reduction 20 years ago. I found it extremely uncomfortable for a couple of weeks. I was reduced from a 34H down to 34C, I weighed 125 at the time of surgery. The next surgery I had was the open RNY incision from belly button to sternum. That was painful and zapped me of all energy for weeks. The next surgery I had was the anchor incision abdomnioplasty. I was only uncomfortable for 2 days and was ready to go back to my everyday activities. I stayed in the hospital 2 nights only because my surgery didn't get finished until 7:30pm the first night. The post op pain was never uncontrollable and it didn't kick my butt energy wise. 7 weeks later I had the mastopexy and implants and again no problems with pain or energy . . .THEN 2 months after that the surgeon had to fix the seromas I had formed from too much activity too soon after my abdomnioplasty . . .it wasn't particularly painful I didn't use any narcotics at all post op, but energy wise that kicked my butt! I still feel " less than " and that was the end of September . . .By far the hardest most painful surgery for me was the RNY . .. ) Vicki > Hi All. I just had my breast reduction last wednesday. Guest guest
Vicki.......I am sure that you are going to get numerous responses to this......here is mine! I had absolutely NO pain from my pannictulectomy (sp). But, from what I understand this is probably because I didn't have any muscle work done. I just had lipo and the apron removed. I was in the hospital overnight!!!! P. breast reduction/ abdominoplasty > Hi All. I just had my breast reduction last wednesday. Guest guest
Hi! Two and a half years ago I had breast reduction and lift and panniculectomy. I didn't know the difference at that time between a panniculectomy and abdominoplasty. There was very little pain with the panniculectomy and the breast lift. Matter of faxt, the most pain that I felt was the removal of the breast surgery stitches. Just my experience. Hope this helps! Guest guest
OMG no offense, but screw the pain. You have just got to be so happy to have those breasts taken care of. I hate these hanging wrinkled sacks of flesh that do nothing but make my upper back hurt. I am sexless...can't even imagine showing this to anyone unless he was extremely drunk, and then I couldn't stand him anyway!!!! I totally understand your fear. I thought I was pretty fearless, but ps really is kind of gross. However, I am so envious of where you are. It's going to be OK, and you are, in the long run, going to feel great. Hang in there, sweetie. You can do it. And I need you to, because I'm going after you. Smiles, Vicki A. > Hi All. I just had my breast reduction last wednesday. Guest guest
34H at 125 pounds??!! Oh man, my back hurts just thinking about it. I know some guys would think that's nirvana, but I just couldn't handle it. Good for you that you didn't. Your poor back must have been miserable. Personally, I have visions of standing up straight and proud. Can't wait! Vicki A. > > Hi All. I just had my breast reduction last wednesday.
